Blizzard Watch for New York City...
NWS - Eastern US Weather ^ | 2/10/06

Posted on 02/10/2006 5:12:04 PM PST by silentknight

For those looking for updates on the Winter Storm

Eastern US Weather

Professional analysis of the storm can be found in that forum.

... Blizzard watch now in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday morning...

The blizzard watch is now in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

Snow will begin by early Saturday evening... and become heavy at times Saturday night. Northeast winds will also increase Saturday night to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph... causing blizzard conditions along with considerable blowing and drifting of snow.

By the time the snow ends late Sunday morning... accumulations should average 6 to 12 inches... with locally higher amounts possible. The highest totals are most likely to occur across eastern portions of Long Island and southeast Connecticut.

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to white-out conditions and make travel very dangerous.

Stay tuned to NOAA all hazards weather radio or visit our web site at weather.Gov/NYC for further details and updates.

Why do people always buy milk and bread? That never makes any sense to me.

You might be losing power for a few days, so let's run out and buy perishables.

Me either. It cracks me up. And the people who abandon their vehicles as soon as they see the first flake of snow... Ugh!!!

I'm just North of D.C., right in the middle of the 6-12" band. I hope that we get hit hard! Give me two feet again so I can have fun with the snow blower on the front of my little tractor!!!
