He was caught by surprise because the President was speaking English (this time).

This idiot was not even mayor when this plot took place in 2002. Why is he making a big deal over this. I am sure the proper LA authorities were aware of this.

"blindsided by President Bush's announcement"

Call me crazy, but some mayors might actually be grateful if their city was spared a 9/11(?)

This event happened in 2002. Does the Mayor expect a phone call every time Bush makes a speech? How petty can these people (Democrats) be?

I know the articles were all in English, but these were all over the place 2 years ago when the news first surfaced. Maybe Dubya should get him a subscription to the LA Slimes?

I believe that to be a Democrat one has to have an extra x chromosome (or is it Y?). They are women. Period. they bact like women, talk like women, get all huffy like women and carry grudges like women.

Take this terrorist/LA case. It's not that the Feds stopped a second 9/11 from happening, the Dems just didn't like the way Bush did it. Just like a woman.

He did not advocate an immediate withdrawal of troops.

Has L.A. been occupied?

Not a direct quote, so maybe the article writer thinks the city has troops in it. Or maybe the writer just thinks this is something appropriate for a mayor to talk about any time he happens to speak in public.

All: There is some confusion on this thread. What he is objecting to is not that he wasn't notified 3 years ago but that he as Mayor now wasn't notified prior to Bush announcing this. Perhaps Bush's staff should have thought of that as a courtesy. OK. I'll concede that. But announcing now that he wasn't in the loop today prior to Bush's announcement makes him look even worse.
I'm surprised he would admit it he is so unimportant that he wasn't contacted.

Dems have become the Whinocrat Party.

1) He wasn't mayor at the time

2) The LA FBI office, the LAPD and even the building owner were all alerted to the possibility that the building could be targeted days after 9/11. See: Article dated Apr 2004 -Post #100

3) Los Angeles received 65 million in DHS funds during the fiscal year 2005 under the Homeland Security Grant Program and Urban Areas Security Initiative. See DHS Website. They come third on the funding list behind New York and WDC.

""I go to work every day knowing that we are a target," the mayor said."

OK... Why are you surprised? Not sure why he is acting surprised about something he acknowledges is an every day possibility.
