I want to post a picture from my pictures in a reply. I would also like to post pics to my profile. As it just so happens, though, I don't know how. Can someone please talk me through it? Thanks.
Buy a Mac and it will explain our every move.
What a small world! I'm a computer idiot too!
I figured out how to post pics, though. The hard part was getting that SFP, FTP, WTF or whatever it is, into the computer and getting pics onto a site that stores them. However, once you do that, the rest is simple. I use Windows, and went to the tab called View, and in there, clicked Page Source. This will show you any FR page in html. In there I found the html code for a posted pic, and copied it and then used its formula to post my own pics. Just change the url and the pic size.
Pic size is important. There may be some easier way to find out your picture's size but what I do is open it in my graphics program. Then put these values in, so the size isn't too big or too small. I try not to post anything bigger than 300 x 300, and even that's kinda big.
Since it's hard to remember the formula, keep a handy file in your computer with the formula (IMG HEIGHT="362" WIDTH="298" SRC="h...p://www...etc.) I can't copy it here exactly, don't know how. :)
It's fun and not too difficult once you get the hang of it, though it'll never replace chocolate.
Tripod isn't a good choice...it doesn't allow file sharing!
bump...for later use as I'm at least midly "challenged" on higher level posting.
The picture has to be hosted online. photobucket has free webspace you can use to host your pictures.
< (Opens the link)
img (Stands for image)
(space between img and src)
src (Stands for Source)
= (tells the computer that you are going to put in a destination)
"URL" (The url of the picture goes between quotation marks)
> (Closes the link)
put it all together and you get (with an unneeded space between the first karat and the img) < img src="http://webpages.charter.net/trussell/pictures/Hello%20stick%20person.gi"> This is the URL for the picture of the waving stick figure.
Take the space out after the first karat (<) and you would get
Most excellent.
bttt
Thanks for the head's up.
But I do see "images hosted by tripod," frequently.
I often see the green post that says "Image hosted by tripod" but not a picture to go with it. Tripod is the site I used when my kids were missing...another freeper had to host the pictures on her own space so they would show up here.
That settles it, then. Thanks.
Constitution Society is spelled wrong in your tag chart. Yet it still works! Heh heh. Out come the spelling police!
Hey ... it looks like you figured it out. Good job.
Ping for a not so stupid question I needed answered also but never took the time to ask! Thanks! :o)
For later - How too
I put together a particularly simple guide.

I post images all the time. It’s easy. I use Photbucket.com account..it’s free. It takes me one minute or so to upload my image from my computer and copy the HTML code and paste it into FR site. Bingo, your image appears. It is not hard at all.
