About those Iraqi WMDs: More signs are pointing to a neighborly transfer
Sunday, February 05, 2006
Last week a man who had been deputy chief of Saddam Hussein's air force claimed Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war began....[snip]
....[snip]
Last month Moshe Yaalon, who was Israel's top general at the time, said Iraq transported WMD to Syria six weeks before Operation Iraqi Freedom began.
Last March, John A. Shaw, a former U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said Russian Spetsnaz units moved WMD to Syria and Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.
"While in Iraq I received information from several sources naming the exact Russian units, what they took and where they took both WMD materials and conventional explosives," Mr. Shaw told NewsMax reporter Charles Smith.
Retired Marine Lt. Gen. Michael DeLong was deputy commander of Central Command during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In September 2004, he told WABC radio that "I do know for a fact that some of those weapons went into Syria, Lebanon and Iran."
In January 2004, David Kay, the first head of the Iraq Survey Group which conducted the search for Saddam's WMD, told a British newspaper there was evidence unspecified materials had been moved to Syria from Iraq shortly before the war.
"We know from some of the interrogations of former Iraqi officials that a lot of material went to Syria before the war, including some components of Saddam's WMD program," Mr. Kay told the Sunday Telegraph.
Also that month, Nizar Nayuf, a Syrian journalist who defected to an undisclosed European country, told a Dutch newspaper he knew of three sites where Iraq's WMD was being kept....."

The article ends:
"Those who have bet their political futures that Saddam had no WMD may be starting to sweat."
John Loftus, a former Justice Department prosecutor, who delivered the latest Sadaam tapes on WMDs to Congress had this to say, "This isn't a smoking gun. It's a smoking cannon."
There will be massive resistance to these disclosures, whatever their exact contents, because so many have a lot invested in the proposition that there were no WMDs in Iraq.
Every effort will be made to discredit or bury the information.
but minister lowery just told us that there were no wmds over there during his anti bush tirade at coretta's funeral, and everybody cheered. you tellin me THE MINISTER IS A LYING DEMOCRAT WHORE just like bill and hitlery?
When Jim Lehrer was interviewing Vice President Cheney, he said "We now know that there were no WMDs". Cheny totally sidestepped him, only choosing to say that the other part of Lehrer's question was correct. This left the distinct impression that the part about "no WMDs" was not correct.
It would be cool if serious evidence comes out that Iraq did have WMDs before people forget about his statements. Even so,
he will be covered by media and his cronies, for what ever he says.
I don't believe a thing!
All that stuff hidden is Syria was made in Texas!!!!!!

Every effort will be made by the left and Democrats to bury the information. Back in the day of MSM (i.e., Democrat) monopoly on information, that would have worked. With today's new media (talk radio, blogs, Fox News, etc.), it will fail.
2006 is starting to look awfully bleak for the broke (financially and morally) Democraps. Their heads are going to explode over this one. They'll quickly move to a "we never cared about WMDs" posture or some other cop-out, though. And the "Bush lied, people died" crap will continue -- probably forever.
" John Loftus, a former Justice Department prosecutor, who delivered the latest Sadaam tapes on WMDs to Congress had this to say, "This isn't a smoking gun. It's a smoking cannon.""
The unbiased left wing media will never give a lot of time to this ESPECIALLY during an election year.
I do not know what the tapes contain but Loftus was very clear that they are explosive.
No doubt if WMDs in Iraq are proved the Dems are hugely damaged.
If the disclosures are explosive enough they will have a tough
time burying it, though they certainly will try.
It sure would not take a lot of VX gas in the NY subway system
to cause a panic that would paralyze the city.
Syrians have had plenty of their own WMDs for decades, including during a variety of Democratic administrations, and they've never been used.
People have begun to assign some sort of mystical unique significance to the Iraqi chemical program. The Syrian program was just as advanced and they have their own production facilities cranking out quite a bit of a variety of agents including nerve gases every year.
If the reports are true this isn't the case of a nation that never had WMDs before suddenly getting WMDs.
The Admin has known all this all along, but why would they sit on the info? Is it to avoid dragging Russia into this?
That really does nothing to the case that Iraq sent part of their weapons to Syria.
If the dems were wondering what the October surprise might be...they better be working up some excuses about why they lied about no WMDs and then attacked president Bush.
If this pans out, what are all the libs going to do with their "Bush lied!" signs, t-shirts, and other paraphernalia?
For that reason alone it just isn't fair to make any discovery of WMD public.
I doubt the Russian angle, but I think there is a lot of resistance in the bureaucracy that has a lot invested in the conclusions of the Iraq Survey Group. The intellegence bureaucracy that is suppose to aid the administrations policies is not uniform in its support to administration policy. There are factions against the Iraq War and the have been and will continue to be corrosive of those efforts.
There is also the natural tendency to back those positions they put forth in the first place.
For that reason alone it should be on Billboards!
A February surprise would be fine with me.
