The Investigation into Nine Church Fires (Alabama Church Fires yield excellent evidence)
WSFA-TV Montgomery, AL ^ | Feb 8, 2006 | WSFA Staff Report

Posted on 02/08/2006 7:39:09 AM PST by commish

The ATF now says all nine fires appear to be related. At each crime scene, the fire starter used things that were easy to catch fire in the church such as flowers or flags near the alter. "this is ugly criminal behavior," says ATF Agent Jim Cavanaugh.

Investigators say they have new evidence and maybe even some witnesses. Cavanaugh says, "The things that we seem to consistently hear and seem to make sense to us is that we have two white males. We have had multiple reports of that and we have had multiple reports of SUVs."

An ATF agent on the scene says whoever did this was up all night and may have signs of burns on the hands. Cavanaugh adds "We have got a lot of good evidence in there and this fire is clearly and obviously an arson fire."

The fire Marshall is asking to sheriff's in West Alabama to increase patrols.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in this case. The FBI has launched a special tip line. The number is 1-877-628-2533. And Alfa Insurance is offering up to a $37,500 dollar reward for information leading to a conviction.

Isn't that typical? MSM only wants the 'good' stuff. RBA, I can't wait to see if you're right about it being a preacher's kid...

Have you happened to have seen anything about the National Church Arson Task Force ? The NCATF was formed by Clinton/Reno to investigate the (black) church fires back in the '90's, and I was wondering if they're still in operation? Particularly since 5 of the 9 recent fires involve predominately black churches (as I understand it)

Well, CNN covered it pretty thoroughly this morning, in two segments, with LEO interviews. They're not calling it a hate crime because nobody really knows the motivation at this point.

These fires do not seem to be the work of a piro. They would stick around for the fire works. Has to be hate against Baptist.

I have to agree. I will bet a "Freeper Dollar" right now that this is not the work of Muslim terrorists, racists, environmental wackos, the radial anti-Christian left, or any other organization, but rather we are dealing with an individual arsonist who is acting out probably because he was cut from the church choir as a youth or his parents forced him to watch Jimmy Swaggart on TV every Sunday morning when he was eight years old.

Current count is 6 Predominantly white, 3 Predominantly black. 8 Southern baptist, 1 Missionary baptist.

Known items :
All 9 fires were started in the Pulpit of the church.

Perps gained entry by KICKING in a door. The ATF guy in TV emphasised KICKING and said the doors were not pryed open.

All 9 churches are on rural roads and back away from the road.

Some misc facts :

Construction dates of some of the buildings burned -- 1819, 1877, 1886, 1907, 1912.

"MOntgomery Advertiser article on what some churches and sheriff's are doing to prevent additional fires :"

Sounds to me like the Baptist churches in the area might want to organize members to keep an eye on each church for the next few nights.

I suggest two-man teams with shotguns, working in shifts. It should be easy enough to recruit these teams in any of the churches in the area.

Big surprise for whoever's doing this.

What kind of flags did they burn? It certainly represents a hatred of Christians, or specifically Baptists

At least 4 of the fires were started underneath the American Flag according to what I have heard.

Interesting that this story is not at the top of the hysterical MSM hate crimes stories.

The story has been dropped because it didn't pan out to be specifically targeted against minorities.
