Gotta hand it to Mick. It was a nice try to change the subject from "your performance sucked".

Yeah, how did you know? And Billy Preston was playing keyboards with the Stones on that tour. I think some dude named Klaus Voorhman was on horns too.

"...absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary..." Was that comment referring to the presence ofMick Jagger at the Super Bowl? OTOH, who cares?

Censorship of their songs during the Super Bowl halftime show was "absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary," the Rolling Stones said through a spokeswoman on TuesdayThe NFL understands that families watch the Super Bowl, and that children are a large market for NFL merchandise. Fathers don't want to stop the game to explain to their 8 year olds what "cum" means.

I kept hoping Mick would fall into the crowd by accident.... He would have broken his hip, collar bone and God know how many other bones.

At the end of Stevie's set, which was only 30 minutes long, all the band members and the girl backup singers formed a conga line and bopped around the stage. Stevie was last in line. They looked like they were having a good time. Stevie was holding onto one of the girls.

And then Stevie said we were going to be Annihilated or something to that effect, I laughed so hard.

From the very beginning, the Stones' mission, besides music, (concocted by their first manager Andrew Loog Oldham, last seen living in Colombia) has been to annoy the little minds. From the group arrest for pissing on a wall of a petrol station, to the original cover of Beggar's Banquet, and all the other mini scandals (note they never did anything as violent or criminal as you average rapper today), it's been an act, it's worked, and, as we see here this evening, it continues working. Be annoyed!

Kiss---
Kiss was a favorite of mine as a youngster. When I was growing up in CT my Dad was a TV reporter and anchorman, everybody who is old enough in the state knows my Dad ( I guess I need to act cool!). I got to watch him interview them before a show, I was the Light "crew" for the TV station! LOL....they were walking around in the dressing room w/out the makeup on, before they dropped that act. It was neat...
Kiss put on one HELL of a show.
I think they would have been an excellent choice for a Detroit SB, add Ted Nugent and a good Motown review...the Stones were a piss poor choice and performance.

While the rest play along, or even overplay, like Keef and Brian, Charlie looks the most interesting there: What the f*** am I doing here?

Maybe the reason Mick can't get no girl reaction is he's too busy livin' la vida Brokeback.

Hey, were you at the same show? Pittsburgh, 1972! Civic Arena.
I thought it was a pretty good show. On that tour the Stones refused to play "Midnight Rambler" because it always got a dark reaction from the crowd. But they made an exception and played it in Pittsburgh. And in Boston too, I think. No other towns.
The very first song, someone threw a bottle up at the stage and almost hit Mick. Mick stopped the show and said, "If one more bottle comes up here the show is over". No more bottles were thrown at the stage.

Bah! Old Mick probably forgot the words and is trying to cover up for his alzheimers moment.
When you're singing songs that the kids in the stands grandparents know, it's time to move on and start selecting grave plots.

Their live performances never have and never will equal the live shows of Kiss.
I saw KISS in concert about 4 years ago - one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Oh, and Nugent opened for them - what a great time that was!

Big deal. I decry the "Strolling Bones" and that uber weak performance. Why is it, some acts just don't know when it is time to fade away?

Fathers don't want to stop the game to explain to their 8 year olds what "cum" means. If any 8-year old ACTUALLY picked that specific word out in a live version of Start Me Up (keeping in mind this is probably the first time the kid has ever seen/heard the Stones), I'd be amazed. That goes for any adult who's never heard the song, as well. Plus, the sound was so bad it was hard to really understand anything. PS - The young faces around the stage were planted there. . .Mick didn't want anyone over the age of 35 near the stage. Exactly the age group that made them famous :)
