"The House Permanant Select Committee on Intelligence is studying hours of audio recordings between Saddam Hussein and his top advisors that may provide clues to the whereabouts of Iraq's WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION. The committee has already confirmed through the intelligence community that the recordings of saddam's voice are AUTHENTIC, according to it's chairman, REP. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, who would not go into detail about the nature of the conversations or their context." " The audio recordings are part of new evidence the House Intelligence Committee is piecing together that has spurred Mr Koekstra to reopen the question of whether Iraq had the BIOLOGICAL, CHEMICAL and NUCLEAR weapons American weapons inspectors could not turn up." They were provided to his committee by a former Federal prosecutor, John Loftus, who says he received them from a former American military intelligence analyst.

It is NOT sane to allow our differences destroy us.I don't see that happening.
But what commonality is there between an Iowa farmer, a San Francisco gay rights promoter, a Chicago union member, and an Atlanta race-baiting welfare gigilo (Hi Julian)?
How can an alliance such as the above *not* fracture internally?

I don't disagree with you except to say i think many of the mainstream Dems (the ones who held their nose for Kerry) would be more in line to support what the Republicans are becoming. I think the Conservative Party is who we are now.
I hope I'm wrong and we nominate a George Allen type candidate in '08, and we develop a backbone in the senate, but based on our record over the last few years, I'm not optimistic.
Anyway, I still believe we will have essentially a 2 party system, just the names will change, and the modern day Dems will be relegated to the status of the Greens. What was the conservative movement in the Republican Party steps out of the McCain / Snow shadow to prove we are the real majority in the country.
I think this will happen some years forward, but it seems inevitable.

I would have to think that, in the months prior to the war, Iraq would have been under satellite surveillance to the point where a dog couldn't go outside to take a dump without us knowing about it. I recall seeing an image of a very large convoy of trucks heading north towards Syria. But like most early incriminating evidence, it was never to be seen again.
IMO, we need to send the 4th Infantry Division, the Second Marine Expeditionary, and the 82nd Airborne in to execute a "search warrant" on old turkey neck.

Thank you, I was wondering. Bravo for going where no Republican has gone before--at least to my knowledge. Most of them are still going along with the 'Rat mantra of "no wmds in Iraq."

We didn't really find true WMD, so hopefully these tapes will lead us to them.

Reagan found he had to wall off CIA from the real intelligence gathering because it was- and apparently always has been- full of Northeast elite Yale/Harvard types who insisted on giving the benefit of the doubt to the Communists on everything and taking the Commies' word about things like economìc progress. After the USSR went away there was much righteous indignation in the MSM and on the left about the stupid RR not paying attention to what his intelligence professionals were saying. Criminal charges were demanded because he ignored CIA reports-didn't even read them. That approach got so much negative traction with the public that it all got shut down over the course of a couple of days and was never raised again.
Today's CIA is still full of Arabists who think that the Arabs are the Wise Men of the Earth and ever so much more sensible than the excitable Jews.

"I need those CD's they use, 12 hours of recording on one disk? Its hard to get a single Pink Floyd album to fit on the ones I burn." You must be using the WAV format to burn your CD's. Try burning them using mp3 @ 128kps (good stereo quality) and you should be able to easily fit 10 hours of music on 1 CD. I have myself recorded over 225 songs on one using this format.

I hope I'm wrong, but I do see our differences destroy us if we allow the Republican Party to split instead of healing ourselves.
As for your description of the Democrats; very true. And these are far more serious and destructive problems than those that face us Republicans. Don't lose sight of that fact.
To rikkir: "I still believe we will have essentially a 2 party system, just the names will change, and the modern day Dems will be relegated to the status of the Greens. What was the conservative movement in the Republican Party steps out of the McCain / Snow shadow to prove we are the real majority in the country."
What you propose is what I propose; that we heal ourself. I truely believe that would be far more easily accomplished, what with the differences the Republican Party faces, than the chance that the Democratic Party can accomplish the same (see angkor's description above).

Go back to DU.
Even if it is fabricated, it would save our election singlehandedly.
I don't care if it is real or not, though I believe the tape is. Play them.

I need those CD's they use, 12 hours of recording on one disk? Its hard to get a single Pink Floyd album to fit on the ones I burn. That is because your Pink Floyd album is in wav format for a standard CD to read.
A decent codec, particularly for voice, can put 35 hours or more on a CD.

I didn't say we were gone yet, but mainstream Republicanism seems to be moving away from what got them into power. They are sacrificing our core beliefs for their (MSM's) idea of inclusion.
Our party leaders seem to think we lose elections by acting "conservative", (See spending, "oil addiction" etc.) when the opposite is true. President Bush even campaigned under the "compassionate Conservative" mantra, and barely won both elections. The second one by 52% to 48% to a proven traitor to his country. I believe a candidate who runs conservative, the way we at FR understand it, wins big, has long coattails, gets more judges, gets Roe v Wade sent back to the states, and makes tax cuts permanent, and more frequent.
You know what though, I'll take incremental ism also. It's the way the left has almost destroyed this country, and we can make it work also.

The moonbats will claim the tapes are forged. Reality isn't their strong point. Gotta say that I'd join them on this one -- why would a "former" intelligence analyst be tossing them around in the first place? Something else is afoot here.
