MRS. BILL CLINTON

That is the first time I have ever seen those three words used together. Strange.

Fat Timmy Russert is going to be mad at McCain.
He'll have to have Osama Obama on for an hour on Sunday to explain this matter.

. I’m embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble.

After all your years in politics, I'm surprised by your naivete, McCain. You make deals with the Democrats, they're still going to try to stab you in the back. You have as of yet to learn that?

Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won’t make the same mistake again.

Oh yes you will.

He should have included this as a token of his sentiments.

El Rushbo got onto this a few weeks ago and I have been pushing it ever since (the MRS. BILL CLINTON thing).

The point is to always, at every opportunity, to remind the American people that the same icky two-fer the Klintoons were selling in 1993 is up now.

A vote for MRS. BILL CLINTON is a vote for Bubba, among other things, to once again roam the halls of the White House looking for love in all the wrong places. EEew.

So, please, join me in hereafter referring to the Hildabeast as MRS. BILL CLINTON. ha!

So Obama is learning how grown ups play these games. Probably a rather large learning curve.

I doubt it! The United States Senate is the biggest 'good ol boy club' in the history of the world. I would bet that these two lunched together today. Maybe even some gym time afterwards......

Don't believe all that you hear or read, especially if it's coming from Senator McCain.......

Hmm, has the Senator from Arizona finally realized that pandering to the Progs is getting him nowhere?

Or is this just an aberration?

Oh, well - any stick to beat a dog in that case...

Well Done Senator McCain

Thats the first time I have ever been able to applaud McCain for anything. I hope he follows it up with some more evidence that he is a conservative. Then I will be able to applaud him again.

I don't have a lot of faith that he will give me the opportunity.

I am also one of his biggest critics but I applaud this letter -- I didn't know he had it in him. Letter slapped Obama but good!

I know for a fact he promises other senators that he'll support them; then, at the last minute, he casts votes against them and walks away without saying a word.

I guess they, to use McCain's own words, failed to interpret his previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss :)

Obama's response:

[I] am puzzled by your response to my recent letter. Last Wednesday morning, you called to invite me to your meeting that afternoon. I changed my schedule so I could attend the meeting. Afterwards, you thanked me several times for attending the meeting, and we left pledging to work together.

As you will recall, I told everyone present at the meeting that my caucus insisted that the consideration of any ethics reform proposal go through the regular committee process. You didn't indicate any opposition to this position at the time, and I wrote the letter to reiterate this point, as well as the fact that I thought S. 2180 should be the basis for a bipartisan solution.

I confess that I have no idea what has prompted your response. But let me assure you that I am not interested in typical partisan rhetoric or posturing. The fact that you have now questioned my sincerity and my desire to put aside politics for the public interest is regrettable but does not in any way diminish my deep respect for you nor my willingness to find a bipartisan solution to this problem.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama
United States Senator
