Good Monday morning, once again, fellow political jinkies. The NFL season may be over, but the political season inside the Beltway is 24/7/365. So join us, if you can, as those wacky Dems on the Senate Judiciary committee reprise their pitiful efforts to once again smear President Bush and score political points..
This is breaking news? They are going to renew the Voting Rights Act? Is there any reason why the WOULDN'T??
WHY is this suddenly now worth breaking into the middle of these hearings?
Keep talking Reid ... you idiot
Probably about the best strategy the per 9/11 Dims can come up with!!
I think Kennedy has to go to the floor of the Senate to offer now a Terrorist Bill of Rights!
**Snort!** And here I sit with just a Lean Cuisine Chicken Fettucini for lunch. No martini for me...
Sessions: Entering a record from someone who served with Clinton and Bush administrations who defends the acts of the surveillance program.
Also welcomes Debra Burlingame here; she's been here all day and her brother died on 9/11 and she reminds us of the human cost because of the failure of will and we have a responsibility to defend this country. It's not an academic matter.
But it's beyond academics and we've lost a lot of people who have NO civil rights today.
Thank you, Mrs. Burlingame for being with us today.
If it wouldn't attract such a chit storm, they should offer to renew the Voting Rights act for a month at a time, just like the Patriot Act.
We should be wiretapping and eavesdropping on your wife Chuckie. You might recall Chuckie that wifey Iris weinshall was as head of the NY Port Authority DOT in charge of the Long Island Ferry when the really serious, horrific negligent accident happened where there were a dozen people maimed and or killed. She cared more about how clean the freaking ferry was instead of the competency and poor Health of the Ferry Operators. She is being protected while lots of people went down, how come your wife who refuses to use your name did not go down? You bet your metrosexual butt we should be watching and listening to her heinous, and I hope they are.
I would much prefer that they get their asses to work on renewing the Patriot Act, wouldn't you?
They should let Ms. Burlingame question the Dems on the committee.....have seen her on a few shows and she is SHARP!!
Too bad he doesn't have a mind to 'replay' it thru!
Mayor Blooming-idiot never uttered a word of condemnation for her poor performance as Transportation Commissioner.
Good rant!
Thank you for taking the time to compose that EXCELLENT reply.
I feel a LOT better now!
I've been reading your other posts on this thread; they're VERY helpful!
Sessions: The Deputy AG for the Clinton administration (Gorelick) testified before Congress for a warrantless search in the Alrich Ames case.
She said the administration has inherent authority to conduct warrantless searches.
It was in 1994 or '95 and before Congress changed the statute.
But that's irrelevant because it was she claimed it was the inherent authority of the president.
In addition, Judge Griffin Bell, a federal judge and AG under Carter, said when the FISA act was passed said the bill didn't recognize the inherent power of the president, the AG of Carter said "It does not take away the power of the president under the statute, but there is no way to mentino it in the statute because the power is in the constitution".
When asked further about ordering electronic surveillance, AG Bell said we can't change the constiution by statute. When asked if the president has the inherent right to put surveillance on an American citizen in this country, he said I do believe the president has that right.
THIS IS IMPORTANT and Sessions is doing a great job.
Dems have tuned out.
Here is some wire tapping that they don't want to talk about.

Hate to admit this but I find it difficult speaking to someone once I know their political affiliation is with this pathetic party. Anyone who boasts in 2006 that they're still a democRAT is someone I avoid like the plague. You simply cannot reason with these people and that goes for some in my own family. Sad really!
Let's hear it for the al Qaeda Bill of Rights.
