BOYCOTT CITGO now!

I never went there much but decided in recent months to never go again. When I told Mrs. jimfree about the relationship to Venezuela she instantly said she'd never go to a Citgo again.

That would be a valid use of eminent domain. However, the property should be turned over to a US company rather than held by the Gummint. Nationalization is for loosers like Mexico and Venezuela.

Oh cares! It's a global market. Don't sell the oil to the U.S., and we will buy it from another source.

He is an idiot. Oil doesn't care where it comes from, or where it goes. He has to sell it to somebody, or he'll end up hanging upside-down like Mussolini. Hopefully, he'll soon end up that way no matter what he does. Too bad the CIA isn't as powerful as the lefties like to claim it is.

We didn't really then, either. That is more myth than factual...

From Citgo's 2004 10-K statement as filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission:

CITGO Petroleum Corporation (“CITGO” or the “Company”) is a direct wholly owned operating
subsidiary of PDV America, Inc. (“PDV America”), a wholly owned subsidiary of PDV Holding, Inc. ("PDV
Holding"). The Company’s ultimate parent is Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (“PDVSA”, which may also be
used herein to refer to one or more of its subsidiaries), the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela. (Page 4, Part 1, Items 1 and 2).

Thus Citgo is wholly owned by the Venezuelan government. IMHO, this should exclude Citgo from any US Government purchase orders. If Chavez is stupid enough to take hostile action against the US (even via the likely route of terrorist surrogates), then all Citgo properties should be seized. That includes the Lyondell-Citgo refinery in Houston.

President Hugo Chavez as part of a worsening tit-for-tat diplomatic dispute between Washington and Caracas has said his country could halt all oil deliveries to the United States.

I say we use less tit and more tat!

Yeah, you could cut oil to the US - but then your nation would go broke and you'd live like the peasants.

Anyone who buys from CITGO needs to remember they are supporting an anti-American Communist dictator.

All US- bound oil, Chavez said, would instead be diverted to other countries if Washington cuts diplomatic relations with Caracas.

Which means that whatever oil those other countries are buying would be diverted to the U.S. market.
