Principle trumps color
By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, February 5, 2006
Lynn Swann, Michael Steele, Condi Rice and Ken Blackwell face the same handicap every morning when they look in the mirror.
They're Republicans, but they're not supposed to be. Who made that rule? Democrats?
When they contemplate their reflections, they are looking into the eyes of card-carrying members of the party of home ownership and opportunity. That's content of character. Isn't that how Dr. King would judge them? Isn't that how you should judge them?
These are the new "A" team of the Republican Party. Not for the black of their skin, but for their values.

It was sarcasm. I happen to believe that Republicans are less racist than Democrats. I think that anyone who conducts a study to "find" racism in Republicans or Bush supporters already has an agenda to prove. I also live in Pennsylvania and plan to vote for Lynn Swann. I was trying to make a point that we are NOT racists. (Go Steelers).

I have a feeling that montag is another one of the Condi haters. I could be wrong, of course. I had a similar first-impression, and would simply ask who would make a better POTUS...Condi or Hillary?

I had a similar first-impression, and would simply ask who would make a better POTUS...Condi or Hillary? Nope, not a Condi "hater". She is impressive in many ways. Particularly her academic achievements, and language and piano skills. But I do not feel she is competant enough nor ideologically suited to be our nominee. Her bias against her Israel is too closely matched to her mentor Scowcroft, who is on the Saudi payroll. She is quite unimpressive as a public speaker and we don't need her quivering voice on the campaign trail or in debates.

As far as Israel is concerned, Hillary has an unquestionable bias against the existence of a Jewish state.

The under-30 Blacks have the most promise. I read somewhere that when broken down by age, the under-30 groups is by far the most Republican.

Thanks for the ping, Rockin. Good article.
It is the Republican party which is fulfilling the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. I pray that good men like Ken Blackwell (and others) will open the eyes of blacks to reality. It is in conservative ideals that they will succeed and prosper and realize that the phony dem promises only make them worse off.....

If they do Lynn Swann will win in a landslide.
