200 Catholic Doctors Resign Australian Medical Association over RU-486 Support (PRAYERS NEEDED!!)

BRISBANE, February 3, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Over 200 Catholic doctors have announced that they will resign from the Australian Medical Association and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners over RU-486. The doctors are members of the Catholic physician’s society, the Guild of St Luke. The Australian Medical Association represents over 5670 physicians in Queensland.

Dr Terrence Kent, a Brisbane GP, said the group which is meeting on Sunday "will be recommending that members resign from both the AMA and the RACGP due to lack of consultation with members of these two groups on their decisions to support removing authority for approving RU-486 from the Health Minister and giving it to the TGA."

“Not only does RU-486 always result in the death of an innocent human being, complications including maternal death make it totally unacceptable," Dr Kent said.

The acceptance of RU-486 is being questioned on the basis of maternal deaths and serious complications in the US. A proposed Australian Democrats amendment to the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 would allow RU-486 in Australia. The medical associations are supporting the passage of the act but in November 2005, the Health Minister, Tony Abbott, cited health risks associated with the abortion drug as reasons for its continued restriction.

Dr. Kent said, “The horrific experience that doctors would inflict on young women by giving them this pill to take would be most traumatic to the patients we are supposed to be caring for.”

“They would take the pill then wait several days for the process to be completed with concomitant pain, bleeding and passage of a dead embryo. Surely this would be psychologically damaging and a totally undesirable experience.”

The Australian Parliament will vote on RU-486 within the next two weeks. It is a "free" vote.

Your prayers to help us stop it will be much appreciated.

Lord, we ask that you raise up a sizable group of doctors, nurses and politicians who will object to this being passed. We also ask that the Truth about this pill be exposed so that those who do vote for it realize that they are accomplices to the possible murder of the women who ingest it, as well as the lives of the innocent babies that are aborted.

May our own country come to its senses on this matter as well and there be a chance for public debate and discourse about it. I pray that we might, as a people, confess our great sin in this matter of abortion and seek Your forgiveness and guidance in how to correct this blight on our country. Amen!

It was quite inspiring to hear that a number of Australian churches protested against RU486. I wish the churches in our country would take such a united stand.

Please explain, what is a "free vote"?

Sending prayers!

“They would take the pill then wait several days for the process to be completed with concomitant pain, bleeding and passage of a dead embryo. Surely this would be psychologically damaging and a totally undesirable experience.”

Could you imagine? It's too disgusting to imagine.

Yet it's not fantasy. It's a willful act created for one purpose and it's happening as we read this post.

How many women will use this even after 12 weeks because they can't afford to pay for an abortion or are afraid their parents might find out?

Little 17 year old Susie will surely have psychological problems once she passes what she thought was a gross inconvenience to find her little baby in the toilet she just violently killed with a pill from her local pharmacist. (my apologies for the gross point but it's fact, is it not?)

One benefit abortionists have on their side is the ability to hide the ugly act from her so that it's just another procedure like going to the dentist.

Plan B will show the girls exactly what they've done. As it gains more approval perhaps more mothers will see the reality in abortion and more will stand up against it.
