An idea: Stay in the kitchen
Shut up and cook

Chris Rose
Announcing the new chef's special at Emeril's restaurant: Foot. In mouth. Served raw, and chilled to the bone.
Joining the fray of the Crescent City's latest parlor game, "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY SAID THAT?," Emeril Lagasse tossed his two cents into the pot yesterday in The New York Post.
Gossip columnist Cindy Adams quotes Emeril as saying, in regards to what's happening in New Orleans:
"Nothing. The mayor's a clunk. The governor is also a clunk. They don't know their (nether sections) from a hole in the ground. All my three restaurants got hit. I've reopened Emeril's, but only a few locals come. There's no tourists. No visitors. No spenders. No money. No future. No people. It's lost. It'll never come back."

Don't know if Emeril actually said this, because I don't read NYcomPost.
Emeril was just saying the truth, and an entertainment columnist tells him to shut up. Freedom of speach works both ways Mr. Rose.

I'm reminded of the World War II campaign when citizens on the homefront were warned to be discreet when discussing anything they might know about war plans -- for instance, where their sons might be located in Europe as an invasion was in the offing, or where weapons were being manufactured stateside. We need to think along those lines. The "loose-lips-sink-ships" thing.
Ohhh the irony...

Emeril was just saying the truth Emeril has feet on the ground in NO ... he's a good businessman. He knows he'll be damn lucky to keep the one restaurant he has up and running open if current business trends continue ... let alone opening the two others he owns.

I wish Emeril had not released the mia culpa later. $80,000,000,000 of Fed money is going to buy a lot Crawdads and Gumbo...

Emeril has a right to his opinion, as do others who are heartbroken about their home state. He was dead on about the leadership, BAMMMMMM!

The truth is hard to handle. Both the Gov and the Mayor did not have the leadership to do their jobs.

I'll never forget the time Emeril held up a fish, sniffed it, made a face, and quipped: "Smells like the Clinton Administration!!"
To: chemicalman
And exactly why is Emeril being derided for SPEAKING THE TRUTH??
Hey, Emeril: kick it up a notch, my man!

I would rather dig out septic tanks with my nose than be an incumbent in a N'Orleans election campaign.
Getting in a statewide campaign in LA doesn't look very promising, either.
Couldn't happen to more deserving people, even if I'd vote to run 'em out of town on a rail.

Oh - I also have to comment on this headline, "Shut UP and Cook."
Okay . . . but where are these people when conservatives advise nitwits to "shut up and sing," etc. etc. etc.

Mr. Rose is an idiot on a number of levels, and here is misunderstanding a pop-culture concept a la "Shut up and Sing"!
Emiril is a celebrity because he is a renowned chef and shrewed restaurateur - If he doesn't understand the devastated service economy of 'Nawlins, and the reasons why, then no one does.
Mr. Rose, stick it.
