Why would people who dislike Alito burn down Protestant churches?

I'm talking free-floating going-postal rage against the "fundamentalists" who are trying to "jam a theocracy down our throats."

Remember how scary the libs were right after the Nov/04? If you have any libs around you, the kind that call themselves "progressives"-- losing out to Alito was devastating. There's a reason Kerry and Kennedy acted like such idiiots--they felt they needed to posture for the radicals.

Just a speculation.

I think back to OBL's threat to go after red states in the 2004 Presidential election.

Anything's possible I suppose.

My bets, if this is is not sectarian:

1. Some sort of internecine, potentially financial, battle among certain Baptists in this state

2. Pyro

If it is sectarian:

1. Muslims

2. Muslims

3. Muslims

The "offensive" Danish cartoon.

THe pastor from one of the other area churches confirmed earlier that all the churches were Southern Baptist churches.

"It's Southern Baptists so it won't count as a hate crime on the media scale. Now if they were mosques...... "

It will if they're BLACK Southern Baptist churches....unless the fires were set by MUSLIMS (Nation of Islam included)

OK--if the perp was really going after Southern Baptist churches then he did some serious pre-planning to get six burned so quickly, and there may be more than one perp.

There was no anabaptist "underground" prior to the teaching of the great Anabaptist theologians of the 1520s. We're talking reality, not Da Vinci Code fiction.

Obviously you blew off the history and its sources that I provided without so much as reading it. I don't care what you or anyone else labels me as, Baptist, Anabaptist, whatever. It's just a name. It's been done for two thousand years, and I fully believe it will continue until He returns.

Persecution is nothing new to us. I tell you what friend. We'll just let Jesus settle it all in the end and decide what is fiction and what is Truth. My trust is in Him and in Him only, not in any church made up and ran by regular sinful humans, nor in any other authority of man's making. Choose this day whom you will serve. Good day.

The way religion is being demonized these days by the left and the MSM, it's not really all that surprising this type of thing would take place.

I'm sure the 'civil rights squad' will be on this like flies on pasture patties. < /sarcasm >

Just remember folks, don't get too upset because these were edificies symbolic of right wing fundamentalist radical and judgemental mindsets. I know because the MSN told me so...

"Who cares what color they are, we are all, (Gods Children)"

According to PC pseudo-"wisdom:

  1. Only White males can commit a "hate crime".
  2. Only White male Christians are likely to own guns because
  3. only White, male, Christian gun owners vote for evil Republicans who start wars in order to make oil profits for their friends.
  4. Only White, male, Christian gun nuts commit ANY violent crimes, while also voting for oil and power mad Republicans, therefore....
  5. only White, male, Christian gun nuts are evil enough to vote Republican and thereby capable of committing a HATE CRIME.

The fact that all Christians of any color are under coordinated, prolonged, frequently violent and HATEFUL attack doesn't fit the theory and therefore is never worth consideration.

A series of fires damaged six rural Alabama churches overnight, and investigators Friday were trying to determine whether they were arson.

Most of the churches were Baptist, located near major highways, and all but one were in Bibb County, about 25 miles south of Birmingham.

The other church, in Chilton County, had been undergoing construction, which could have been a source of the fire, said Ragan Ingram, a spokesman for the state insurance agency that oversees fire investigations. That church, New Harmony Baptist in Fairview, was destroyed.

No arrests had been made Friday morning.

In 1996, race was a factor in a series of arsons that damaged rural black churches in Alabama and elsewhere. But Ingram said the fires late Thursday and early Friday destroyed both the churches of predominantly black congregations and predominantly white congregations.

The Ashby Baptist Church in Brierfield and Rehobeth Baptist Church in Randolph both burned to the ground.

Jim Parker, a member of the Ashby Baptist Church, told WBRC television in Birmingham that he understood the fire began near the pulpit and that the fires at other churches had a similar pattern.

The pastor of Old Union Baptist, the Rev. David Hand, said a fire at his church, also in Brierfield, was discovered about 4:30 a.m. and extinguished before it could cause serious damage.

Ingram said the two other churches are in Antioch and near Centreville. It wasn't immediately clear how seriously they were damaged.

Is this a jaw dropping moment or what?

Yep - for the last 32 years I have lived well below the MAson Dixon line. My wife is a country girl, and we prefer small towns like Centreville, AL.

Why do you ask?
