“Islam has already obtained the head of one (newspaper) editor … No one is going to fire me!”

Witty play on words, I guess he realizes firing isn't what he needs to worry about.

If these papers had any guts, they'd show the cartoon depicting "mohammed" having carnal knowledge of a rather cute little sow.

This shows an incredible amount of courage on the part of official Europe. The word courage is used only because of the abject cowering that has heretofore been the norm.

It is not a challenge, a provocation, but the defence of freedom

The irony that a few cartonnists and newspapers would be the only ones to stand up to the jihadists in Europe is amazing.

Where are the cartoons in U.S. newspapers? Where is the supposed guardian of freedom of the press The New York Times? I want to see Mohammad cartoons in the New York Times and the Washington Post. But, we will not, because the New York Times and the Washington Post have gone over to the other side.

They are not for freedom of the press. They are for the defeat of America.

In the meantime, EU governments and newspapers are going into the apology mode.

“Any insult to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is an insult to more than 1bn Muslims and an act like this must never be allowed to be repeated,” said Hamid Karzai, Afghan president, strong western ally and moderate Muslim leader."

"Ursula Plassnik, foreign minister of Austria, which holds the rotating EU presidency, said she understood the offence Muslims felt, adding that EU leaders needed to “clearly condemn” acts that insult religion."

"Kofi Annan, the United Nations secretary-general, said he believed “freedom of the press should always be exercised in a way that fully respects the religious beliefs and tenets of all religions”.

The dispute began on September 30, when Jyllands-Posten, Denmark’s biggest newspaper, published 12 cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, a move considered blasphemous in Islam. One of the cartoons showed the Prophet with a bomb under his turban. The Danish newspaper later apologised but the row escalated this week after several European newspapers reprinted the cartoons to assert the right to free speech.

Most daily UK newspapers decided not to reproduce the cartoons on Thursday. One cartoon appeared on The Spectator’s website but was quickly taken down.

The French government criticised France Soir, the first French newspaper to reprint the images. In Germany, religious and minority representatives sought to calm after Die Welt, the conservative daily, reprinted the cartoons on Wednesday.

Muslim protests over cartoons spread

Spanish Newspaper Prints Muhammad Cartoon Also two Italian Newspapers!

HOORAY!

Do we not have one, single paper in the US willing to grow a pair and take a stand with their European counterparts for Freedom of Speech??

They're always quick enough to cover themselves with it after printing something vulgar and/or obscene!

Not even a conservative paper?.........Anyone?

This is good.

If many papers (and websites) publish those cartoons, the general public will know what type of materials the Mohammads consider offensive.

This is very educational. We should thank the newspapers and websites for their service.

It is insane that any Western culture would allow themselves to be controlled by "Islamic Outrage". Those who apologize for this should be thrown out of office. They should be standing up for freedom of the press.

Are the Europeans starting to grow a spine towards the Muslims and the threat to their socities? Amazing because while they look like they are growing a spine, a good chunk of this country is losing it (or did it ever have one) against the "Relgion of Peace."

The free world finally stirs from sleep. May we all recognize the repackaged 'master race' crap and the fact that it will not participate peacefully in the world of the free expression of ideas.
