I've often wondered if these stats include one or more viewers watching the same tv. That's another good question. My guess is that multple viewers per TV set tuned in is somehow factored into any statistical analysis that produces these numbers.
You might also ask what about all the folks who viewed the speech from their hotel / motel rooms all across this country.

All the net works really pi** me off with the exception of C-Span Oh, and C-SPAN wasting the airwaves with the Ramsey Clark/ Cindy Sheahan Impeach Bush get-together doesn't pi** you off?

It is humorous that 2/3 of the viewership didn't bother to watch the Dem response.
2/3 of the viewership know that is nothing more than sour grapes blustering.

NO! obviously the fragrant masses. the same folks who wait all morning for Jerry Springer, Regis, and Riki Lake to come on. I don't think I can lump Freepers into this class.

"American Idol" boasted 32 million viewers. What a sad commentary on our society! What else is there to watch? I'd rather watch AI (I don't) than any liberal bilge oozing from my set. I say if the people can't be reasonably informed by the networks, then better they be entertained, if that's entertainment.

zap2it.com lists the broadcast figures, but they list them as ratio (whatever that means) comparisons, rather than total viewership numbers:
"The big lead-in helped FOX stay in first place at 9 p.m., as its coverage of the State of the Union averaged 6.1/9. CBS was second at 5.2/8, with ABC edging NBC for third (viewers out West saw local programming). "Supernatural" built on its lead-in to score a 3.9/6 for The WB. UPN re-aired last week's "Veronica Mars," which averaged 1.4/2.
"FOX held its lead at 10 p.m., as analysis of the president's speech drew a 4.6/7. CBS averaged 4.1/7 for the hour, followed by ABC, 3.8/6, and NBC, 3.7/6."

Regis is still on? I guess morning TV will never, ever change. It's been dull and boring ever since TV was invented.

I think he's the reason.

I actually watched a bit of AI the other day. It was funny. That one guy( I don't know his name because I don't keep track or care about actor's names) just humiliates some of those contestants to the point of tears. (It's not like they don't deserve it they are horrible!)
To: Fresh Wind
If you stuck with CSPIN you missed some wonderful camera shots. They had the best camera angles.
Interestingly enough it was CNN who had the camera for the entire media pool, except for CPSIN, and there were complaints about the screen captures they broadcast......LOL....no doubt the dems were fit to be tied at the shots of her heinous and her antics.

Yes this does pi** me off even more, and the fact that is federally funded. I guess I can't have things my way. I have never liked C-Span programing but a guest on their programing
is not interrupted for adds.

I love him. I love Bill Sammon too, but Brit's still number 1 with me.
I sent him a condolence card after his son died, and I got a hand-written note back. Talk about class.

Well, the only reason I watched Fox after the SOTU was for the brilliance of Brit Hume.. Lately, pretty much all the rest can go eat cheese.

fat chrissy matthews stated that msnbc was the most watched network and their coverage was superior. I guess they are keeping him around for the 2008 elections
To: ajolympian2004
This is more viewers than all of the others combined. This should be a wake up for the rest of the MSM that things are changing and are only going to get tougher if they continue with the status quo and the personalities they represent.
