Title seems bogus to me, but this could be a huge advantage for Special Forces.
It's nice to have a Death Star available when you need it.
10 mile range is pretty cool too.

I've got a suggestion: Let's test it on Iran's president, Syria's President and the new regime in Palestine...If at first you don't succeed, zap, zap again!

Wonder if they stole the technology from Dr. Evil's Alan Parsons Project. :-)

"It's the kind of tool that could bring about victory within minutes," an official said. This is the stupidest statement I've seen in quite awhile.

New weapon could mean the end of collateral damage I think they mean "could obliterate all evidence" of collateral damage.

Add to this an adequate tracking system and such a laser would be terrific as an anti-missile defense.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention but they have been testing an airborne anti-missile laser with great success. They have even used it to shoot down MULTIPLE artillery shells.

Under the program, Boeing would test the aircraft in July 2006. The aircraft would have all subsystems on board except the high-energy laser. Officials said a low-power surrogate laser would be used instead of the kilowatt-class, high-energy laser. Set phasers on "annoy".
