"So would you want a confessed, although obviously nutty, murderer to be freed on bail living next door to you?"

She's going from jail to a secure mental hospital.

She's not being let out.

Come on! Do you actually expect the Old Media to get anything right?

The DA here looked into pressing charges against the husband but found no charges that would stick.

Every state has its share of morons. Here in Louisiana, we just keep them out of our neighborhoods by electing them to high office....

I lived in TX when this happened so I know all about this whacko.

Yes, the husband is just as guilty. Last I heard he was looking for another wife to impregnate.

Another trial is a waste of taxpayers money and she won't be any less guilty. Her husband ought to be on trial.

She's going to rot in a secure facility somewhere (which is right).

As posted earlier, since there is no statute of limitations, they'll probably defer prosecution, unless and until some doctors agree she can be cut lose.

At that time, they prosecute.

That way, she's in the funny farm where she belongs, but has little or no chance of ever getting out.

It's a terrible quandry to me what to do with insane killers.

There is a clear distinction between someone who is medically, certifibly, completly, nuts like this woman and someone who say kills for fun or profit.

Protection of society comes first, I agree.

Death penalty? Probably not, as much as I hate her.

Just like the people that leave their kids in hot cars, and their kids die from the heat.

I don't have much sympathy for those parents either.
---
Heatstroke in a metal box sitting outside in the sun is a matter of physics. It's easy to know it's a mistake.
Reading a mind in order to know that today someone is homicidally dangerous, who has never been dangerous before, well that's tougher. At least, I would think so, never having been in that position myself.
I write this only to express my point of view, I don't expect to change your mind.

Yeah, but let's say that I leave my son alone with a known pedophile for a half-hour, would'nt I be considered culpable?
---
Different situation.
You should expect a pedophile to commit a crime, that should be your default assumption.
Is your default assumption that a mother will kill her own children?
Does the fact she is troubled automatically change that 180 degrees? There are a lot of women who get post-partum depression. Are all their husbands negligent if they leave their wives alone with the children?
I say it again, obviously it was a mistake.

Let's see, $200K is a get out of jail free card for killing your kids? And abortion carries zero penalty. Atheists must believe that humans are dogs who walk on their rear legs.

Children are a gift, not a big screen TV.

Sad. Fembot emotionalism run amuck.

I resent that Andrea Yates has anything at all to do with women's issues or feminism.

I'm watching Rusty Yates on MSNBC right now and ~man~ is he a moron. Just dim. Dumber than a box of hair.

What outcry? The excuses are flowing for the Wachovia exec who stabbed his twin daughters recently. It is sickening.

Glad I'm not the only one sickened by that one. The thread link I posted even has some freepers trying to come up with any excuse for that guy. Why, I don't know. The guy knew it was wrong enough that he called the police.

----I totally agree and couldn't have said it better. Those poor babies didn't have a chance against that sick b*tch and she SHOULD have been at the very least, given life without parole.

They were actively worried that she would commit suicide.

They had to hide the knives from her.

I'm sorry but I would not leave my children alone with anyone that I thought might commit suicide.

I might not think she's going to murder her own children. However, I wouldn't want my children to see their own mother killed, and then I wouldn't want my children to be unattended.

If you kill five children you have proven you are a demon and need to be sent back to hell. You need to be tried and executed. You need to moved to the head of the line in death row.

How anyone could think otherwise escapes me.
Actually it doesn't. Soft headed people are impressed by evil these days, Pure evil impresses them more. They are in thrall to evil because they halfway buy into it. They just don't have the guts to do it
