Just like the people that leave their kids in hot cars, and their kids die from the heat.

I don't have much sympathy for those parents either.

Heatstroke in a metal box sitting outside in the sun is a matter of physics. It's easy to know it's a mistake.
Reading a mind in order to know that today someone is homicidally dangerous, who has never been dangerous before, well that's tougher. At least, I would think so, never having been in that position myself.
I write this only to express my point of view, I don't expect to change your mind.

They were actively worried that she would commit suicide.

They had to hide the knives from her.

I'm sorry but I would not leave my children alone with anyone that I thought might commit suicide.

I might not think she's going to murder her own children. However, I wouldn't want my children to see their own mother killed, and then I wouldn't want my children to be unattended.
