Danger Zone - (Haleigh Poutre)

In the court (and courts) of life and death, a little 11-year-old Massachusetts girl named Haleigh Poutre could be the next Terri Schiavo. For those who have not heard the tragic story, Haleigh was beaten nearly to death last September, allegedly by her adoptive mother and stepfather. The beating left her unconscious and barely clinging to life.

Within a week or so of the beating, her doctors had written her off. They apparently told Haleigh's court-appointed guardian, Harry Spence, that she was "virtually brain dead." Even though he had never visited her, Spence quickly went to court seeking permission to remove her respirator and feeding tube. The court agreed, a decision affirmed recently by the supreme court of Massachusetts.

And so, no doubt with the best of intentions, a little girl who had already suffered so much was stripped by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of even the chance to fight to stay alive. If she didn't stop breathing when the respirator was removed, which doctors expected, she would slowly dehydrate to death.

When hospice, J. Greer, Felos, Bushnell and Michael Schiavo were attempting to murder Terri in 2003, it was the press conference outside of hospice and the viewing of a Terri tape by the media that delayed the 2005 felony crime of murder by a couple of years.

Since the nobody else was playing by the rules, the tape was shown out of desperation. It worked temporarily.

Caging human beings through isolation is against the Geneva Convention and although I don't care for the UN, it's part of the U.N.'s definition of torture.

I heard Haleigh is in a good facility. I wonder if she'll ever get to go outside or will she be caged like Terri was?

Golley, you want Columbo and all we can manage are Barney Fifes. Jodi's mom worked at the Sheriff's Dept. when Terri was ahem, TRAUMATIZED and remember the bone scan that wasn't discovered until the last few years.....

The ensure for feeding tubes runs 8 to ten bucks a day. Such an expense! (sarcasm).

And trafficking from hospital to hospice NIXING rehabilitation is harmful to the patient and to society.

Rehabilitation works wonders. Why do they place the hospice card before they refer for rehab? After rehab, EXPENSES may go way down.......

And the guardian doesn't need to go through the courts any more and neither do the medical providers. They simply euthanize even though it's against the law in every state but Oregon where it's called "assisted suicide."

Was Dr. Kevorkian the last physician to be sent to jail for doing what too many physicians are doing these days?????

FV, I have no words to describe what happened to Ted. Ted should have been given care in the HOSPITAL and NOT sent to the stinking hospice and FORCED TO DIE. Not only forced to die, but banned from being with his dear friend. Ted's RIGHTS were taken away. He wanted WATER and wanted to LIVE. All the right to die BS in the world will never justify what happened to Ted.

Those who are using double speak and changing the meaning of words, don't give a rip about anyones rights. Even when a person says they want to LIVE, they are instead killed by the removal of food and water. I hope those who are supporting the INSANE RIGHT TO DIE movement will wake up.

Ted Stith had no rights or even any comforts - only death, after 8 days of NO WATER.

Only God can stop this hellish train. I pray that He will before it's too late. God Bless June for her coverage of Ted Stith. June is a real fighter of the forces of evil and death.

Both brands of socialism are just tools for totalitarianism. They come with all kinds of EUphemistic names, but in the end there are only two. Brand A: Marxism, Brand B: Fascism. They are not opposites, they're more like asking "Ford or Chevy?" They look different, but both drive alike and both get you to the same place. Either way, the weak will be eliminated. The rationale for elimination varies, according to each ideology's view of who should hold the resources for "the common good".

Brand A: The weak's consumption of resources is unfair - meaning it cuts into government coffers (the coffers that are tapped by govt. officials.)

Brand B: The weak's consumption of resources is unfair - meaning it cuts into the bottom line of the vested interests who bought the govt. (Less $ in their coffers means less to spend on buying govt. officials.)

The brand your country buys will be the one that sells best there due to the country's history. Most people will sheepishly assume they're free from both Marxism and Fascism if the system in effect isn't called by those names.

How many people known as "neo-cons" - or even conservatives - now once called themselves socialists? That's a good research project. Was it a genuine change of heart, or just marketing?

And that's my rant for tonight.

We're seeing the result of viewing people as just *things*, rather than as people. I was going to say they lost sight of the fact that people aren't just things. But really, they intentionally closed their eyes to the fact. So now people are treated as nothing more than potential moneymaking resources to be carved up and sold off. No different than a seam of coal or a felled tree.
