Reuters Additional Information
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police at the U.S. Capitol arrested anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Tuesday, shortly before President Bush was to give his annual State of the Union speech, a police spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman, Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, said she had no immediate details.
Sheehan had been invited to be a guest at the address to a joint session of Congress by U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat.
Sheehan, who became a central figure for the U.S. anti-war movement after her soldier son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, won wide attention with an anti-war vigil outside Bush's Texas ranch.
CNN said Sheehan was arrested after unveiling a banner and was being held on Capitol Hill for about an hour, which would keep her away from the address, which was set to start at 9 p.m. EST.
Sheehan and other activists were arrested in September for protesting outside the White House without a permit, a misdemeanor that carriers a $50 fine.

A newsroom type shares notes:
This from Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of U-S Capitol Police.... Cindy Sheehan was arrested in the gallery of the house floor tonight and charged with demonstrating in the Capitol--a misdemeanor. ...Sgt. Schneider says she was wearing a T-shirt with a slogan on it and was asked to cover it up. Sheehan did not cover it up and she was arrested. ....She is being processed at Capital Police hd and is expected to be released at some point tonight. The misdemeanor charge carries one year in jail. .."
Sure looks like him. Could it be that he was the one who invited her?
Gael, you failed (again). Give yourself a pink slip!
She was thinking, "I'm a moonbat, she's a moonbat, it's natural!" Google her name and the reason will be obvious.
But Wait, according to her flunkie, "she was just wearing the same shirt she'd be wearing all day, a black shirt with the number of troops killed. It was already 'out of date' and she had to add 3 more to the previous number."...
Damn, someone needs to tell her that teeny black numbers on a black dress just won't show up on camera!
Nope, some wackjob from Cali named Woolsey.
MurryMom has been on FR for years. I was filled in on her several months ago on a similar thread. Apparently she's tolerated for some reason (who knows WHY), so "token" is pretty much it. She posts her stale venom from time to time and then crawls back under her rock. *Ignore*
Blessings!
Ok, so how many of those were freepers under cover posts? :')
No, it was that poop-for-brains Lynn Woolsey who gave her the gallery pass.
Um. No. There's really no question about their intelligence.
Was Hugo Chavez invited too?
"I dare say that member just got banned"
A DUer banned is a potential FReeper in waiting.
The suit she was wearing in those photos looks like it has a button-front top. She probably unbuttoned it and there was her hidden shirt. Take a look at the shot of her being rushed back up the steps, looks like there is a lighter color on her front, perhaps a shirt under the suit top?
Whoo HOO!
Thank you, Phantom. After looking at the picture of you and Ann, I'm envious.
We're not laughing at you................. well yeah we are.
How about that Alito confirmation. That had to leave a mark.
Talk about trying to "upstage"! Lock 'er up and throw away the key!
"...Heineken for everyone!..."
Make sure you get yours before Swimmer does. He must be tying one on tonight. He lost yet another contest to President Bush. He's so blinded by rage and grog, he can't read the writing on the wall. His side is losing and losing badly. And there's no cure to the disease called liberalism.
I heard that the banner said "Steelers and CBS - Winners every time!"
