Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

Justice Alito's mom might be a good idea for Laura's guest for the SOTU. I would assume she will be at the swearing in today and the White House reception tomorrow.

Yep, and it hasn't changed. I don't know why Leahy and his pals keep spewing crap about Alito and Bush when Alito is going to be voted into office here shortly and there is nothing that he or his liberal friends can do about it!

He got stitches in his elbow and they took some shards of glass out of his hand.Would have made a great visual if he was able to walk up to the Senate podium voting for cloture with blood dripping from his elbow, picking glass out of his hand.

Morning, Son! Having trouble paging up to the next comments on this thread. Is it me or is FR jammed? Leahy is on now and I'm blessing again the inventor of the mute button! Guess the 'Rat party is in the grips of mass hysteria this morning--isn't it fun????

Any republican trusting McC to keep his word is delusional.
McC values his dem friends but has no use at all for senators from his own party.

Alito will get all 54 republicans* and the 4 dems who have come out in support.
59-41.
And this will seriously damage the minds of the freakleft who will say "See, there were enough votes against cloture." Oh, what a beautiful day!
The protesters in DC are having a miserable, cold, rainy day and night!

Dog,
I remember seeing a post as to a rumor that Reid would step down in about 6 months? Have you seen/heard/believe anything like that? I only remembered it when I saw this post. It was someones post on FR, not an entire thread (unless I missed it)

And that speech upset the woman who yesterday called for George Bush's overthrow?
