Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

Wouldn't that be a hoot?
He could smile for the cameras and say "I'm your worst nightmare!"

Landrieu -NO. Her the voter demographics of the state she represents has changed noticeably since her election.
She will probably regret it.

"This is what George W. Bush campaigned on, and HE HAS DONE IT!"
Totally agree. You know, I came to the FR as a pro-choice/911 angry Dem and because of many of you I became pro-life. When I voted for Bush this time around, it was with the understanding that he'd (maybe) be able to put someone on the bench who could tackle Roe vs. Wade, and its very nice to see it finally done. Now we have to hope Alito pulls through.

Will you or anyone please list the No voters for us? All the DEMs except Nelson of Nebraska, Johnson, Byrd and Conrad; plus one Republican, Chaffee.
Final vote will be 58-42.

Sheets voted yes? I think I just saw a pig fly....Byrd actually gave an excellent floor speech explaining his reasons for supporting Judge Alito. After his tenure on the Klan, including some of the most odious statements ever made by any American in history, he will never have my respect, but I do have to give him props for that particular speech.
