Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

The FOX news guy says some dems have not even asked for ballots. Could they be no votes?

Local conservative radio guy was talking to SOMEONE this A.M. (I just woke up)....and the guy said Justice Stevens has said he was "appointed under a Republican President" and he'll "retire under a Republican President." Sounds to me like Pres. Bush will get another one to appoint!!!
Fingers are crossed!!

Cspan now has the vote . . . still ongoing . . . Y = 58 N = 40 Read the fine print - those are prevously announced intentions, not actual votes.
Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS, JUSTICE ALITO!!!!
To: Dead Corpse
C-SPAM also shows that their numbers were based not on the actual vote, but on previously-promised positions.

Yes, we're done. It happened, and I think we should take a minute to joyfully reflect. President Bush was able to keep this important promise to us.
Gratitude as far as the eye can see.
Thank you Lord!
