Coretta King has passed (MLK's widow, has died at the age of 78)
ABC News ^ | 1/31/06

I just heard on the news that Mrs. Coretta King has died. Just my personal opinion, but she was a dignified, classy woman who served her country and her late husband's memory quite well.

Thank G-d, His grace is sufficient and He is our righteousness.

"She was a good woman, but did she stand biblically with the Father? That is suspect."

That decision is above your pay grade. It is someone else's to make.

May she be received in the Lord's house with open arms. RIP, Mrs. King.

"I hope other folks here can retain that type of composure and class. And I know that most here will."

I'm hoping the King kids will show some composure and class during the mourning of their mother.

She was indeed a very fine lady who shunned publicity and cherished privacy and, unlike Jackie, chose not to remarry in keeping the torch of memory lit in respect for her slain husband.

The DUmmies are blaming Alito for her death. They said she just couldn't deal with his nomination. They have no shame

Yup...and it is amazing that so many of their atheistic ilk now wish her "peace" in her rest. Over at the DUmp, "they" are so quick to forget that her husband was first a man of God, and one who believed in a heaven. But, to most of the DUmmies, she is now just dead, dead, dead, with no reward to show for a Godly and Christian life.

Well said Michael. We are all imperfect human beings, but Mrs. King's journey through life was with dignity. May the Lord lift up her family.

Do you have a source? Bernard (on Imus) just mentioned it.

The Atlanta Journal (AJC.com) has extensive coverage of it.

It has to be very difficult to be married to and love a man who belongs to the public as much as he belongs to you. Then to lose him at so young an age so violently. This she shared with Jackie Kennedy. I can only feel compassion for her, and sadness at her passing. For all his human foibles, and we all have them, her husband was a giant among men.

"Does this mean that the copyright will be removed from the 'i have a dream' speech so that school children can speak the words without fear of being charged a fee.

Is that for real?"

Yes. This is not the time to dwell on it but even those of us from Atlanta who loved Dr. Martin Luther king and strongly support equal civil rights have a number of bones to pick with the family and their actions.

Clinton must be drooling all over himself this morning! Another chance to go to a funeral and make it all about him!

Not just Clintoon...BOTH Clintons, the, uh, Rev'run Thacksuunnnn, Al Sharpton, Osama Obama, Howard Dean, Antonio Villaraigosa, Maxine Waters, the Boondocks cartoon guy, John Conyers...they might as well put up the DNC banner on the pulpit.

Sorry if my cynicism is out of place on a thread announcing the passing of Mrs. King, but I am a realist, and if Rosa Parks' funeral took 6 hours, imagine how long this one will be. Is it because all of the people whose legacies the DNC has hijacked are dying off, and they are afraid of letting go? Just a thought.

Mrs. King was pro-life.
I saw her recently on one of those Evangelists shows...a Dr. Kennedy I believe. Anyway, the next day the Lefty websites were trashing her. And no, I'm not confusing her with the niece who recently got pilloried for having the audacity to be pro-life.

And we waste our time on DU because....? Sorry, I scrub our toilets before I read DU. A very, very sorry loss of bandwidth.

My sympathies to her family. And my future sympathy again when Jesse Highjackson and Al Shakedown try to use her funeral to further their cause.
