The two scariest words in the English language? Intelligent Design! That phrase tends to produce a nasty rash and night sweats among our elitist class.
Should some impressionable teenager ever hear those words from a public school teacher, we are led to believe, that student may embrace a secular heresy: that some intelligent force or energy, maybe even a god, rather than Darwinian blind chance, has been responsible for the gazillions of magnificently designed life forms that populate our privileged planet.
Oh, and you might also benefit from reading this: The Mirage.
some (actually, most) people don't believe in mathematics. They just don't accept what the numbers show.
Especially when the monthly minimum credit card payment exceeds their ability to pay it.
I directed you to a book in my original post.
What original post? I see none in this thread. And a single book, whatever it is, cannot support your assertion that for 'every piece of evidence you showed defending the monkey theory there are also plenty of scientific writings defending Intelligent Design.'
There's a tad bit more evidence for evolution than the word of schoolteachers. Unlike ID, there's actual scientists doing actual research.
What I don't understand is the near panic Darwin people go into at the mere mention of Intelligent Design.
I don't like taxpayer money used to misrepresent science to children for the purpose of religious indoctrination. But maybe I'm just weird.
So you're unable to state any of the arguments or evidence from the book in your own words?
Did you actually read it, or are you just throwing it at us in the hopes of beaning someone on the head with something heavy?
But, not to worry, Intelligent design is as inflammatory as the abortion issue.
But for entirely different reasons. "ID" is as inflammatory as Michael Moore, and for exactly the same reasons.
Clearly, your mind is made up & Darwin wrote your Bible so to speak.
Clearly, you haven't a clue as to how and why we have arrived at our conclusions, and the vast overwhelming amount of evidence and research we have which has led us to those conclusions and validates them in multiple independently cross-confirming ways.
Would you likewise say something as silly as, "Clearly your mind is made up on Relativity physics and Einstein wrote your Bible so to speak"?
Its simple for a person like me,
Yes, I have no doubt of that.
I have heard the Darwin side for 25 years.
And now you are a expert?
And, considering how wrong Public Schools and so called educators have been about so many things, its not a big leap to believe they are wrong about the monkeys.
Yeah, no need to actually learn the subject, understand the processes, examine the evidence -- for those who like it "simple", it's enough that Public Schools have been wrong on other things, so you're entirely justified in totally blowing off 150 years of scientific research on biology, right? Let's throw out physics, automotive mechanics, astronomy, and religion too, because hey, no one's perfect, so just believe anything you want, all conclusions are as valid as any other, there are no right and wrong answers, no point in comparing various positions against reality.
Go with that if it makes you happy.
I used to buy into Global Warming once as well.
That's fine, I used to buy into thinking that truth was determined by what I *chose* to believe. Back when I was about eight years old.
What I don't understand is the near panic Darwin people go into at the mere mention of Intelligent Design. Why so much fear?
There's no panic and no fear at all. Feel free to "merely mention" it all you like. There is, however, disgust at the practically nonstop lies that are told about science by the IDers (read this whole thread for numerous examples), and the lies they tell about their own beliefs being valid science. We're also rather annoyed at the way they feel justified in blowing off anything they choose not to believe, based on nothing more than hand-waving dismissals of centuries of hard-earned knowledge, at the same time they hypocritically ridicule science-literate Americans for having very valid reasons to conclude that "ID" is an empty shell and a Trojan Horse for creationism.
Are we clear now?
LOL I hit a nerve didn't I?
Peace to you & I'll remember you in my prayers.
God Bless.
Can you say
Long Winded?
Excellent link to that The Mirage article...I find this notion quite handy...I bothered to watch the 'CreationNetwork', for what I was assured, at the beginning, would be a scientific discussion which would present scientific facts, propping up creationism...it did nothing of the sort...the speaker, gave absolutely no scientific facts of any sort...the whole half hour was some sort of a rambling, muddled talk about how the evolutionists are all wrong, with a few silly anecdotal stories, which had nothing to do with evolution or creationism, and this was mixed in with countless 'commercials', hawking creationist books and tapes and such...
Finally, with the program almost over the speaker was now going to give us some scientific facts....what this entailed was some sort of paper, displayed on a screen, with some lines going here and there from different species of living beings, and the speaker whining about the squiggly lines...end of program...
His whole talk was nothing but a 'Mirage'...
Beautiful.
I don't know how you put up with the constant stream of creationist babble and repetition of multiply-debunked "arguments". I'd go insane if I did anything more than the occasional snarky comment. But thank you; it's vital that others see that you really don't have to stick your head in the sand and ignore science to be a conservative.
You really should pay attention to what he has to say. He expends more time and effort than almost anyone else on FR to try to explain himself.
As for myself, I just write people like you off as fools.
Ah, right, when *you* post, it's discussion, when *I* post, it's because someone "hit a nerve".
Look, if you're unable to respond with anything better than an incredibly trite taunt, why bother?
Can you say Long Winded?
I repeat the above question.
Can you say, "unable to deal with the material"?
You made a false claim, I documented just how false it was. And the best you can come back with is a schoolyard taunt which utterly sidesteps the content in its entirety, and substitutes empty derision about its size.
Well, Cindy_Cin did say she preferred the "simple".
I wonder if that was the Kent Hovind videos, it sounds a lot like them. Here's a hilarious blow-by-blow by a blogger who decided to watch them all and report on his experiences: The Hovind Files: Lying for Jesus . I've watched several of them myself, and can vouch that his summaries are accurate.
I cannot remember the speakers name, just remember that he was really a horrible speaker...
I have previousy been given that link to the Hovind Files, a while back, and I have actually been reading them bit by bit...glad to hear you say, that you also have seen many of the Hovind Files videos, and that you vouch for what the writer says about these videos....this writer really goes into great detail, and I for one, find his commentaries on the Hovind Files, both funny and sad at the same time...funny, because well, they are just so humorous...sad, that people actually take these videos seriously, without further investigation...nothing sadder than burying your head in the sand, refusing to read anything scientific, and then blow hot air, claiming scientists have no 'proof' of evolution, no 'evidence' of evolution, and of course, are all 'godless'.....yeah, right, that lame argument should really win converts...
Keep on posting those lengthy fact filled posts...makes some of the creationists explode, or implode, however one wants to view it...its really quite funny, to see how they cannot deal with scientific information, and run off...too much information might 'taint' them, donchta know?

When Ichneumon said "we" I think it's obvious he meant freevolutionists, whether specifically including himself or not. Besides, it's not notions about who in particular was part of "conspiracy" to ban Gore3000 that are nutty, it's the your notion that his banning was the result of, or connected to, or in any way associated with a "conspiracy" that is lunatic.
Again, READ THE THREAD Ichneumon linked where g3k spit into the wind, tugged on Superman's cape and messed around with Jim -- repeatedly, insistently, heatedly, disrespectfully, delusionally, unhingedly, etc. What "conspiracy"??? Unless you can sensibly talk about g3k's "conspiracy" to get himself banned. "We" (many freevolutionists) tried to warn g3k. Some of us, I believe, emailed him privately cautioning that he was "cruising for a bruising".

Only an idiot would try to shoot fish in the ocean. If you wanna shoot fish, use a barrel -- a well stocked barrel, loaded with slow-moving fish. We got lots of 'em around here.
