No Filibuster, No Re-Election for Blue State Senators
OpEdNews.com ^ | 1/30/06 | Rob Kall

Posted on 01/30/2006 5:14:01 PM PST by LdSentinal

I'll keep this short and bitter. Every god damned blue state senator who failed to sign on to the Alito filibuster MUST be fought in the primaries and replaced. The Democratic party has failed the rank and file members.

It is time to take back the Democratic party from the right wing, loser hacks who have been fumblingly, failingly controlling it and the candidates put forward. I can't believe how many people tell me that they believe the DLC and right wing democrats are really Republican operators.

IN the OpEdNews.com/Zogby people's poll I just ran in Pennsylvania, about 29% of the respondents were liberals or progressives. With 51 percent of the respondents being democrats, that means that 58% of the democrats are liberal or Progressive. We ARE the majority.

If a stab-us-in-the-back senator in a blue state failed to suppor the filibuster we MUST find strong, tough candidates to run against and BEAT them. We must raise money for candidates, even if they are not running in our states.

We, the Progressives and liberals must define the issues. We must tell our elected officials what to do. This was the last straw. We need to draw up a list of these traitors to democracy and take them out of the political arena. I bet they'll end up on some corporation's payroll.

We need leaders who will go to congress and not be cowed by the seniority system. They represent constitituents who are just as important as the senior members. So F**K the seniority system. F**k Barack Obama for selling out the people who put their trust in him.

Here's the list of the "Democratic" senators who betrayed us.

Akaka (HI), Baucus (MT), Bingaman (NM), Byrd (WV), Cantwell (WA), Carper (DE), Dorgan (ND), Inouye (HI), Johnson (SD), Kohl (WI), Landrieu (LA), Lieberman (CT), Lincoln (AR), Nelson (FL), Nelson (NE), Pryor (AR), Rockefeller (WV), Salazar (CO)

Ad Bob Fertik, of Democrats.com, said, "There was no reason for this betrayal. We only needed 40 of the 45 Democrats to sustain a filibuster."

Some of them hail from solid Red states. We can't blame them. But the ones from blue states and purple states should be treated like wanted criminals and removed from their positions of trust and power. It's not having people who call themselves democrats when they fail us when it matters most. These lowly cowards should have treated this fight like a war and supported the filibuster even if it meant taking an election bullet. I believe the action would have gained them votes. It would have forced Bush to submit a candidate who would actually be good for the US, unlike the unworthy liar he's appointed.

I would say that we are now in a state of war, but the right wing has been at war with the american people for a long time. Today, we learned of the traitors in our midst. We know what to do with traitors. And we need to act fast.

No, he wouldn't. He ran against Chris Dodd in 1998 and lost by a landslide.

John Paul Stevens can't stand Bush.

I don't know about that. After all Stevens is a Ford Republican (aka major RINO) and GWB is, while more conservative, from a historically RINO family.

What ever became of Gary Franks? Could he be competetive against Lieberman?

Not in a two man race, but perhaps in a three way race

I could never pretend to be a Democrat

Same here ... I'm a lousy lier. Oh sure, I'll construct tall-tales occasionally for humor's sake, but they'll be filled with so much deliberate absurdity and contradictions that the reader/listener would eventually catch on that it was a tall-tale, which is the desired result (as irreverent humor:) ......

Then again ... most liberal Dems may never 'catch on', so perhaps I might make a good 'pretend' Democrat .... /chuckle

No Ned Lamont is going to challenge Lieberman. The lefties think he's one of them but he's not. He may be opposed to the war in Iraq but I knew him around 10 years ago when he was a selectman in Greenwich and he never struck me as a MOONBAT. But shhhhhhh, don't tell the kooks let them continue to eat their own.

"Makes me wonder if Lowell Weicker will challenge Joe Lieberman."

Would Weicker be running as a democrat? (He was once a Republican; liberal however)

Dems don't seem to have much of a youth movement. Sen. Judiciary committee dems must average 70+ yrs of age?

I favor them keeping the very same people out in front of cameras.

Charismatic Harry Reid, sporting John F. Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy, Kohl, Schumer.

Talk about a gloomy bunch.

Evidently these Senators fear rational voters more than rabid moonbats. Everyone knows the base will still vote Dem no matter how much howling and teeth-gnashing and empty threats they demonstrate today.

Meanwhile, Hillary had to play to the batty base and abandon her "centrist" transformation. This vote was a no-win situation for the Beast.

He meant that progressives are a majority of the Democrats. 29/56= 56.86%

Now if only another Supreme Court vacancy were to occur..

The dems will do a Weekend At Bernies kind of thing. Can't you see Stevens propped up on the bench, and a clerk doing all his writing for him?

Seriously though, if that happens, the next nominee better have skin a foot thick. It will get bad in a hurry.

I know a guy who got an ex-police dog from the Pittsburgh police. When he first got the dog it was so vicious that it would bite itself and he had to lower food to it from his porch to the back of his pickup truck.

That's what the 'rats remind me of now. Such vicious people that they are biting themselves out of their rage.

And it is sooo much fun to watch!

This person has sensational talent as a comedy writer. Er, this was intended to be humorous, wasn't it?

Just count the logical miscalculations. You'll need to go barefoot just to count them all.

My particular favorite is how a minority of the minority constitutes a majority (yeah, um, whatever). And those who don't do as the whiny children of the minority DEMAND are "traitors of democracy" (as if democracy can only be achieved if the minority is allowed to rule like they are the majority).

I hope this guy gets a national platform soon. There just aren't many good political comedy writers out there anymore.

A week or so ago, somebody on here said Stevens was in poor health. He looks pretty chipper to me. Is there anything to that story or is it just somebody's wishful thinking?

So the poll you quote says that 29% of the public is progressive, a.k.a. nutbags. I'm not sure, but I think that means that 71% of your sample is either center-left or on the right. So how is it that a Senator - who is supposed to represent the people of his state - is betraying the people? Seems to me the people elected GW Bush to appoint these judges an voting for a filibuster would have been betraying the Constitution AND the people.

I doubt that poll is accurate since it containd 51% Dem sample. and the idea that Senators should filibuster because the people screaming the loudest are demanding it. Sure, you guys have loud voices. You've mobilized a portion of our youth - the portion who is easily brainwashed to believe that results don't matter and intentions are just fine to base the future of our republic on. Bottom line - YOU ARE THE MINORITY. You lose again and again, and will lose in 2006 again!
