Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...
However, two Dakotan Democrats -- Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota and Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota -- have said they would vote down a filibuster. Johnson said he'll vote for Alito, and Conrad said he's "leaning in favor" of the candidate.

If Chaffee, Snowe, Conrad and Landrieu say they will vote for Alito, a cloture vote becomes meaningless, moot, a waste of time.
Woohoo!
Fox had him at 41% yesterday.
I really doubt they'd try that....yet. Frist (and a number of other Republican senators) really don't like the idea of changing the rules and will avoid it unless they feel there's no other choice left. I would be willing to bet that they'd let the debate go on for another day or so before pulling the trigger. It won't likely come to that anyway - I count over 60 votes to invoke cloture already (unless some Dems are lying).
Fox also had Julian Philips on yesterday
Well, as I see it, Alito will be at the SOTU tomorrow night...either robed and sitting on the floor, or seated next to Mrs. Bush up in the balcony. The dems can choose their poison, but I think that they would be better off simply cutting their losses and letting Alito be confirmed without further delay.
Biden now says he will vote against cloture "the first time?"..WTF..??
Are you guys watching the FCF panel on CSPAN2?
I can't even get through watching the promos for the Flight 93 movie.
The last time they did that, they took a bus to the WH where AlGore called the i42 the 'greatest president ever'. Remember?
After the way many of the Dems treated him last session .. they best not count on Stevens to block cloture
I have to be gone for a little bit. Hopefully I will return before kickoff time.
Thanks for the update - I've not seen that blog before - I may have to investigate. ;-)
They are WAY short. A number of anti-Alito votes are also anti-filibuster. My count of anti-filibuster votes is up to 65.
His name will be Mudd if he does not vote for someone from our home state.
FR is a rockin' today! Whoo-hoo! I'm cubie bound until noon. Thanks for the live thread. This should be fun.....
Playing today at the US Senate:
The George Soros Marionettes
It really is amazing that this filibuster deal came as soon as there were 60 votes and it had no chance. Big deal, big talk.
Don't I remember once before that Kerry ran from the fight until it was over, then claimed to be the hero
It's hard to believe they'd actually do this at this point because of losing the impact the filibuster would have on the next SCOTUS nominee.
That said, the RATS are getting pretty darned desperate and who knows how many hot pokers their special interest masters are holding to their backsides.
