Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...
Heh heh heh.
Good morning. You're in fine form today.
Oh geez

PROVIDENCE, R.I. U-S Senator Lincoln Chafee is holding a news conference this morning in Providence to announce whether he'll support Samuel Alito for the U-S Supreme Court.
Chafee, a Republican, has said he was concerned about Alito's views on issues such as abortion rights, the separation of church and state and warrantless electronic wiretaps.
Cranston Mayor Stephen Laffey, who's challenging Chafee in a primary this year, says he would vote to confirm Alito.
Also involved in the drama is whether or not there will be a cloture vote. That's contest within the DEM party, between Reid, and the Kerry/Kennedy "filibuster" wing.
Pretty much anti-climatic at this point. News reports are in the nature of "admitting their cause (filibuster) is hopeless," which is a precursor to skipping the cloture vote altogether.
A tiny, fluttering little skeet shoot? Oh my.
Pitiful Minority Party
Whose blocking attempts are too tardy
They'll yell and they'll whine
On the Taxpayers' Dime
But they're so over. Let's throw a party!
So do you think Chaffee will vote against Alito?
Smells like a "no" vote to me.
Did y'all see this steaming pile yet?

I had a similar thought. It's cold outside, and the champagne has been resting out there since Dec 31 - we didn't open it for New Years ;-)
Chaffee hasn't said whether he will vote for or against Alito. It really makes no difference. He WILL vote for cloture. That's what really counts. We have the votes to get Alito confirmed with at least 53 Republicans and 3 Democrats.
Linc is stuck..If he votes against Alito, he'll lose the primary..if he votes for him..he'll lose the general election..either way..we'll be rid of him thank goodness..
Morning! Hah! I've been looking forward to today all weekend. LOL!
Ooooh - skeet!
We'll find out today. He's scheduled to make his speech today.
Then you expect there wil be a UC request to vote tomorrow?
I tend to take this with a grain of salt.
No leader's time?
The UC was on Friday
