Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...
I heard that rumor....are the extremist trying to keep him in line?
Ali, thanks for Ensign's phone number
Cbolt, a quick question re: Ensign missing the cloture vote because of the auto accident. I know that the Senators must be present on the floor to vote, but I seem to recall that last week when Bieden (I believe) had to go to the ME for the election monitoring that someone else said that they had their proxy vote. Are senators able to vote via proxy if the Chair allows it (for specific reasons?)
Reid is crying over how Meirs was treated???
Are we suppose to believe this?
is this his SOTU prebuttal?

Durbin criticizes Miers
WASHINGTON Illinois Senator Dick Durbin is stepping up his criticism of Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, although he continues to take no position on whether he will vote to confirm President Bush's choice for the high court.
The Senate's number-two ranking Democrat says after meeting Miers earlier this month he was left shaking his head. He says Miers said nothing to help him make a decision.
Durbin says he wonders why Miers is making the rounds with senators if it's going to produce such frustration.
He says it troubles him to think this is happening with Miers, a woman who helped the White House go through the vetting process with numerous nominees over the years.
He says the burden is on Miers to produce information about herself for next month's Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.
Durbin also complained that Miers has refused to say whether she sees a right of privacy in the Constitution. Durbin says Bush's previous nominee to the court, now Chief Justice John Roberts, said he saw it in three sections of the document.
Durbin says it's not good enough that Bush says that White House lawyer Miers is the best possible nominee. Durbin _ a member of the committee - says that just doesn't cut it.
From what I can tell over as the D-kos .. they love Reid
Posted it, along with Ensign's office number for condolences. He and his aide that was driving are ok.
OK thanks Bahbah. I get out of the loop ever so often - have been keeping a 3 year old the last two weeks along with a new puppy. Need I say more? :o) But thanks for keeping me straight for the 2nd time today.
Reid talking about empty promises?
How about this one?:
Bush "I will nominate strict constructionists to the bench"
Not very empty, huh Harry?
I hope Dingy sees the parallel reality of which he speaks!!
... he could be talking about himself
Sounds like it
Is this not an alternate reality they live in?
Of course Kos loves Reid... they OWN him.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like Ensign will be in Washington today though. :(
I thought it was the response to the state of the union...
