APPROVAL RATINGS FOR ALL 100 U.S. SENATORS AS OF 1/26/06
SurveyUSA ^ | January 27, 2006 | Staff

A poll by SurveyUSA , as of January 26, 2006, should make the GOP very nervous. For example the top ten senators with the highest job approval consist of six Democrats, two RINOS and one maverick. Republicans in the top ten are Snowe (*RINO-ME) 75%, Collins (*RINO-ME) 72% -- and senate "president," John McCain71%. Pete Domenici (R-NM) and Kay Hutchison (R-TX) share the tenth spot with a 63% approval.

The bottom ten senators with the lowest ratings consist of eight Republicans and two Democrats. Two senators that deserve their low scores are Voinovich (R-OH) 49-40% and DeWine (R-OH) 47-41% The poll does not tell us whether their disapproval comes from Republicans or Democrats - I would guess from both. A sample of some undeserved approval (in my opinion) are as follows: Salazar, the duplicitous Dem from Colorado 55% , "Jumpin" Jim Jeffords (I-VT) 66%, Roberts "sheets" Byrd, the senate's king of pork, 65% and Ted ,"water board," Kennedy 61%, Pat "leaky" Leaky (D-VT) 65% and Lindsey (would be VP ) Graham (R-SC) 60%.

Surprises, to me at least, include the following approval ratings: Frist ( R-TN) 48%, Kyl (R-AZ) 44%, Lautenberg (D-NJ) 40% and Boxer (D-CA) 48%.

The only senators with higher negatives than positives are as follows: Bunning (R-KY) 43-44%, Santorum (R-PA) 44-46%, Lautenberg (D-NJ) 40-44% and -- finally the winner of the race to the bottom - Conrad Burns (R-MT) 42-51%.

*Republicans in name only

TOPICS: News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: 109th; gop; jobapproval; poll; senate; senatedems; susa; usasurvey
The poll does not tell us if an equal number of Dems and Repubs were surveyed or if resondents were likely voters, but if registration is roughly equal then independents and disenchanted Repubs could dictate the ratings. Or the republicans have jobs and were not home to answer the phone.

The ones who scored at the very bottom didn't surprise me. Conrad Burns is caught in the Jack Abramoff scandal, Rick Santorum has made several controversial comments recently, and Jim Bunning & Frank Lautenburg are showing signs of senility.

As a conservative, if they'd ask me how I feel about my two Republican Senators from Wyoming I would have given them strong disapproval. They have voted for most of the spending excesses. They voted for the Medicare Prescription Drug act. And they are just bought and paid for sock puppets for the US Chamber of Commerce when it comes to protecting our borders.

The only thing I'd disapprove more of would be a RAT and I may have to start voting for them just to get these clowns out of office.

Of course demonrats would have a higher approval rating. First Republicans and Conservatives have higher standards and they will be the first to complain when their politicians stray off the reservation.

Second, anything can be tolerated by the left as long as you support the right to kill babies and claim to support the troops while at the same time dance with glee (while off camera of course) if the US Military suffers a loss because you can blame it on the right.

Please don't vote for the Dems. If every disenchanted conservative did this we would be overwhelmed by so many Dems being elected. Write to them, call them but don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

"National polls of politicans elected locally means SQUAT!"

This is not a narional poll. it is a state by state poll of each state' senators and other statewide office holders. They also poll about the president which is reported by state and nationally.

As to the makeup, if you look at the survey, it shows the make up of particpants.

It was posted earlier and it is still crap today. My two Oklahoma Senators are very popular in this state but both are under 50% in this liberal poll -- no way since one was elected with way over 60% and the other one near that number.

Still means NOTHING, Steven.

Polls are not elections and contested elections have TWO candiates to compare against. Until then ALL polls are nothing more than putting a wet finger in the air.
