Time poll: half of Americans favor deporting all illegal immigrants back to their home countries
Instapundit/Time ^ | 1/29/05

Posted on 01/29/2006 8:53:34 AM PST by Brian Mosely

Via Instapundit:

Almost two-thirds of Americans (63%) consider illegal immigration a “very serious” or “extremely serious” problem in the United States, according to a TIME Poll. The majority (74%) believes the U.S. is not doing enough to secure its borders. . . .

TIME’s Poll shows that half (50%) of Americans favor deporting all illegal immigrants back to their home countries (45% oppose). Three-in-four (76%) favor allowing illegal immigrants in the U.S. to earn citizenship if they learn English, have a job and pay taxes. . . . Meanwhile 700,000 undocumented immigrants from around the world continue to enter the U.S. each year, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

"Where I have been in error in any post in this thread?"

You are incorrect claiming Illegals do not have access to to certain welfare programs. They do.

You are also in error claiming children born to Illegals are automatic US citizens. Simply not true in all cases.

Two minutes on any search engine will prove that you are in error.

"...the second amendment's 'militia' would mean (the modern perception) state militia, rather than the meaning of the word when it was first written down...as noted in the Constitutional notes via madison or others."

The very same parallel occurred to me a few days ago.

It is imperative to take into consideration the intentions behind the words in the Constitution.

It's astounding that someone can claim that the 14th excludes children of diplomats -here LEGALLY, mind you- but includes those that are criminally within our borders.

The first situation interests me...of whom legally here do you have in mind? Just curious.

If I explain it better it will sound much less interesting.

What I was trying to say is, a foreign ambassador would be here legally. Would have gone through proper channels.

Prop. 187 was a good start, but it was poorly written. You're entitled to your opinion, but the same forces that did away with 187 are the same people advising the president on his policies.

marajade was telling me that they do not. I am so tired of being lied to, by our state government, when we all know these illegals are receiving assistance and come here for the assistance because it flows like a mighty river in their direction.

All illegal aliens along with criminal or welfare seeking legal immigrants should be deported.

Well, that may seem harsh, but the fact is they send most of the money they earn here back to Mexico, and when they get sick they show up at the emergency room. Guess who pays the tab, you, baby, you.

it's only an "issue" to socialists if the illegals were to stop voting for them.then it would be series.

"....according to the Pew Hispanic Center."

It's not only countries south of the border providing us with illegals. The Philippines is sending it's fair share of illegals here also. I know first-hand. They, unlike the poor ones from Mexico and points south, have a very sophisticated and well funded network here in the U.S. including crooked Filipino lawyers who forge documents, etc.

I'm from the England UK, and I find what you mention very puzzling, As we get alot of TV show from America, also we get made for cable movies, But this thing you mention about juristriction, rings true, I thought it was just in the movies and shitty TV shows, One exception would be Smokey and the Bandit, that was cat and mouse. Ermm my point being .. I don't know how your coppers work over there, but it seems like if someone wanted to commit a crime all they would have to do is cross the state line, depending on what you did you probaly wouldn't get caught. We call them lazy people 'wankers'

I really think an 'Illegal alien' term is a ridicule, borders are man made we are one world. The ebb and flow, the flood and drain, call it what you will, everyone on this is earth wants more or less the same thing, either you are looking or you have found what you are looking for you want to live your life. Don't be soo greedy and selfish, you don't own your country this is gods earth, why shouldn't we share our riches? The USA wasn't around, dont quote me, but around 200 years ago? I mean, what are you 3-4 generation american? there must of been a child of a immigrant somewhere along your family tree and I bet it wasn't too long ago, thats if you could trace it. What if they took your immigrant grand father back to Germany, For a start you wouldn't be around, You wouldn't even be speaking Duetsh. One more thing Immigrants work hard, they take the jobs you are too lazy or to proud to do, even though they are probaly educated more than you. All I'm trying to say is, The treasury's money is not yours, each to their own, survival of the fittest, get your fat ass on the runway yo, One world. One love.

Hey, you are the only alien around her geezer. Now here this, My wife is american, she came to England, She gave birth here, we or our govt don't see that as illegal, this is life, the true cycle of life. My child is born, you with you atlas and your man made borders do not restrict me. I have a 'Pass dont go to jail passport', Sorry I'm not being rude, but I read somewhere that 70 percent of americans do not hold a passport, btw you need that to travel overseas. Please don't take it the wrong way, but I feel sometimes americans are soo secular, There is a big world out there, Life is not a drivethrough or a marriage of convieniance, or even a doughnut or happy meal. Outside the US are two of the biggest populations in the world, dude go figure. Not everyone wants to come to America, people travel, people always want to better themselves, a better standard of living, if someone finds that the USA could be this last bastion of hope fair play to them, they're happy to do the jobs you citizens won't get out of bed for, then fair play to them. You can stay in bed, and think about all the jobs they've taken, but.... then again how do you feel about British? Danish? French people coming over and taken your jobs!? perhaps even your women? are you up in arms about that? lol Well the way I see it is, your forefathers went to america in search of a better life basically, so WTF you wanna shut up shop? Pot kettle Black. I say deport the lot of you, What little native american whole generations you forefathers didn't kill, should stay. Maybe we could make a new isreal for you pot pourri alien folk, I hear Bush was saying there is hope and glory on a red planet, sooner the better. God save the Queen !

Illegal aliens can't get welfare.

Well, they seem to make out pretty well on the dole after they race here to have a high-risk-birth baby that my nurse mom and aunt have to help deliver (on the county's dime) afterwhich doctors and nurses collapse from exhaustion and fear of a lawsuit by a "Se habla espanol" ambulance chaser lawyer.

And let's suppose for a moment, that hispanics take over the southern states and then vote, en masse as a majority, to turn themselves over to Mexican control

Believe it or not, every hispanic I know (all of whom are at least 3rd generation if not many more generations than that) is against illegal immigration and flat out against legal immigrants who refuse to assimilate.

Dam, you are soo sad. Illegals, Illegals, what can I say, I don't think they pose that much of a problem that you make out, they do the jobs you cant or are unwilling to do, Give them abit of time and they will be legal. This thing you say about multi culuralism, dam, dam where the f do you live? No one race more or less rights than any one, nor does any religion or race. The usa among most of the world is a free country. Listen don't be scared or xenophobic, It can't be hard for you to understand that the world is evolving people do tend to move from place to place in times of economic hardship, So okay its easier for a European to move to the US, than a Mexican, which is wrong it reaks of racism. It won't be long till the brown/olive skin colouring is the primary colour of all people. You know with India/China pumping out babies, your ladies want have much choice but the good choice, Plus global warming will change your melatone pigment. So basically Mexican, Sexican, Ango Saxon be what you will I think and I believe that these man made borders these little lines in huge chunks of the world should not stop a man and family of the world to travel to make a better life for themselves. If they have problems and need a little help, Noone is asking you to take your paper out your pocket, the goverment can help, Look at it this way your taxes are getting spent anyway whether you like it or not, Star Wars Ronald Raegan anyone? ? Everyone Every person has something to contribute in their own special way we are all gods creations. I'd like to finish by saying ' Don't be Cruel,' Spread a little love'

Are we going to qualify that only US citizens who are parented by US citizens can get welfare?

I don't think ANYBODY should get welfare. My parents were migrant (U.S. citizen migrant like the Okies) farmworkers after their parents lost their farms in the Depression. They managed to get themselves out of the fields, put themselves through trade school and us through college without ANY welfare or free healthcare....not even free school lunches.

Half right. We need to start building the walls NOW and setting the depth charges to disrupt the tunnelling.
