There I was, across the street, a six lane street. Just me. And my little camera.
I stood quietly on the empty sidewalk taking pictures of the Code Pink protest at Walter Reed. The one that used to be at the main entrance to the hospital, until they forgot to renew their permit for that location.
Now, they've taken to infesting a location down the street, in front of a small sidewalk park, but still in front of the hospital.
I had gone down alone, with my camera and tripod to document their little public protest.
I had less than a minute's peace to take photos before Allison Yorra and Ann Wilcox of Code Pink came across and told me that I would have to leave the empty sidewalk, across the street from their protest, because they had a permit for where I was standing.
I told them I wasn't disrupting their protest across the street, and that I was holding no signs but simply taking photos. They told me that I was not allowed to be there, and that the police would remove me. I encouraged them to call the police, because I wasn't demonstrating in their protest area, just taking photos, in their protest area where they weren't protesting. They initially declined to call the police, preferring to "handle it themselves."
By now, "Princess", Weasel and some guy with a black beret had joined Allison and Ann around me. They began to block my camera, which was focused on their public protest across the street. No matter which way I turned, there was Allison and her bully-boys.
So I stepped off the sidewalk and into the curb lane of the street, where MPDC does not issue permits unless the road is closed. Allison and the bullies quickly followed. I'd move. They'd move in front of me. I'd move again. They'd again block my view.
Here are a few photos I took:
Allison Yorra - Code Pink
Allison and "Princess" who both love to call our president a fascist, as they freely protest at a military hospital and try to bully a lone photographer.
Weasel scurries across the street to join in the leftist fun and games.
Allison's good side
I got lots of photos like this. Y'know, for a woman whose organization loves to sneak into places like the Dem and Republican conventions, the John Bolton hearings, various Rumsfeld hearings and events to unfurl banners and disrupt the events for the fawning MSM cameras - she sure does seem to dislike this camera operator.
Allison has help from Black Beret Guy to stop me from taking photos of their public protest.
Black Beret Guy and Ann Wilcox of Code Pink.
Allison and "Princess" - Her profile is definitely NOT her good side.
Allison got really bent out of shape when the other camera folk came down to film their gang assault on me. In a fit of anger, Allison Yorra yelled at us, calling us a bunch of nobodies and that nobody reads our blogs.
I don't assume anybody made me anything and I'm not trying to make myself anything special. For crying out loud, how can I make it clear? I'm a professor, I've been a conservative since the Reagan years (I'm 50)and I cut my teeth on social conservatism. How am I supposed to act? I see something that concerns me (I don't know you guys from Adam, so, believe me, I'm not assuming anything about you, personally. I'm just raising the possibility, in general, that one could fall in to a trap if they become addicted to street-level militancy.) So I raise questions (in a not so tactful way, again, sorry!!)
That's all I'm about. Period.
Yes I ca . . . oh, crap! :o)
Who ARE these scum-suckers, and why do they think they can do the cutesy, "bullying" stunts that they do??
Your patience amazes me. I'd have 'Black Beret' unconscious on the sidewalk and dare the bi**hes to do anything about it but pick him up and leave.
But that's me.
Real Transylvanians would never fight the monsters,
they'd engage them in the arena of ideas.
Or hide beneath their beds
Remember who guards your freedom
I want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody hands.
He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from months of battle and emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war.
He stands tough, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at us now in anger and disgust and tells us this...
I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your children graduate too illiterate to read it.
I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains.
I left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business.
I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people.
It's the U. S. Serviceman not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.
It's the U.S. Serviceman not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.
It's the U.S. Serviceman not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.
It's the U.S. Serviceman who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag, who made it possible for the protester to burn the flag!!!
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need."
Excellent.
G-D Bless Our Troops.
Pardon me just a minute...
I know all the people I've been Freeping with at WRAMC, and we all possess well-developed critical thinking skills; it's more than a wee bit insulting to have somebody without personal knowledge of the people he's talking about, to jump onto a thread and insinuate that we are so stupid that in the past ten-plus months we haven't already considered our motives WRT our WRAMC Freeps.
And it's much more than insulting to offer talk-show style psychological diagnoses based solely on the comments posted on FR.
Don't you have some papers to grade, or something?
It's admirable that you keep the left "off balance" at your university and that you are afforded the environment where you can take the high road (as you put it). The reality of it is you have to meet people where they are... not just geographically, but in their thinking as well. These Code Pink losers are in the streets. Even Jesus went among sinners in order to save them.
Back in November, after one Friday night at Walter Reed a gentleman came over who wanted to "discuss ideas". He claimed to be a pacifist. I told him that no one on the corner where he'd just been standing shared his views. He said, "But they are against the war." I told him they were against THIS war but would not be against one that would further their own agenda. I challenged him to research Code Pink, and look up where they gave money to the insurgents (he was told it was humanitarian aide). I said he should be familiar with what they stood for before standing and being associated with them. He said he would look into it and I can only guess that he did, because we have never seen him back on that corner. Even if it's one person at a time, it is possible to exchange ideas on the street but you can't do that if you don't show up.
Being clever, one step ahead, does keep them off balance as well. For some of us the primary mission is not only to support the troops, but to get Code Pink to move on. Their agenda has no business being on display in front of a military hospital. We are trying to get them to take it to Capital Hill and leave the wounded alone. With them away from the Main Gate we can better focus on our uplifting messages directly to the troops.
It is possible to find (or make) an opportunity to enchange ideas, but keep in mind, most of these people have memorized a different kind of rhetoric which they think is correct only because it's louder than our logic or because it gets on TV. Trying to communicate in a language that they can understand unfortunately leads to tactics not found on the high road. FReepers need to be flexible. Semper Gumby!
Well said!
BUMP
Yes. Well said. Thanks.
I always remember that great Billy Crystal skit on the Oscars --
"I am sooo NOT Spartacus..."
Boy, are they nuts. You'd think they'd be glad to get some attention, but I suppose for it to be the right kind of attention, you'd have to support the insurgent sub-humans over in Iraq or somthing like that.
Don't know what the carpool situation will be this Friday. If I drive myself in I'll come early enough to work on the movie unless I can talk Bill into leaving early.
Bill could help with the captions too. He's pretty good at that sort of thing.
Apple Blossom for President!
Coop for SecDef.
BufordP for Sec of Homeland Security.
Bmwcyle for Sec of Education...
With a staff like in #376, how can I go wrong?
Please it is too early in the morning for this.
You've been both wrong and rude in the same week. You may want to to the right thing and get yourself back on track.
that was DISGUSTING! He is talking about the protest warrior attacking other countries and he was totally on the attack himself. What a disgusting person.
