Clinton to support Alito filibuster Says shell join Sen. Kerry in blocking Alitos nomination, putting her at odds with top Democrats

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday announced she'll join potential 2008 presidential rival John Kerry in voting to filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, just as top Democratic leaders predicted the effort is likely doomed.
With three Democratic senators pledging support for Alito, the New Jersey conservative seems virtually assured of being confirmed by the full Senate Monday or Tuesday, party leaders predicted Friday. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters in Washington that "everyone knows" Senate Democrats couldn't muster the 40 votes needed to support a last-ditch filibuster.

Karl Rove ought to have her sent as a special envoy to Somalia, Gaza strip or some other place where cannibalism is rampant.
LOL!
I was surprised, but when I saw Kerry on TV, I figured she had no choice except to join The Davos Democrats; the left would have savaged her by Monday. And she had to get in quick, lest her freaking voters figure out she's doing it as a sop to them.
Ha!
Outsmarted AGAIN by Bush....it must really, really suck to be them!
ROFL
She must be doing this with the 2006 Senate race in mind.
If she runs in 2008, the MSM and liberal kool-aid drinkers will give her a pass.
Gotta love it! Hitlery sure knows how to pander to the rightwingers and red-staters. LMAO. I guess she can safely know now that I'm one of the 84% who won't be voting for her.
You're naive.
Hillary's political instincts have never been anywhere near as sharp as her husband's. I really don't think she could survive a national campaign.
Ab-so-damn-lutely.
Dingy Harry has to tread a fine line.
Ultra-Liberal Senators and those who have ultra-liberal constituents have to be able to support a filibuster, but Harry has to make sure it fails, or we will pull the nuclear trigger.
I wonder if the Gang of 14 is going to hold together? Somehow I think it will.
I really didn't either but the only explaination is that she has to cover all the positions for 2008. She can't let Kerry and the rest get to the left of her or they'll knock her out in the primaries.
The Beast has to emerge from the primaries and then go center, but by that time it will be too late.
Lotsa room on the Titanic for DimWits!!
She knows the filibuster wont happen and is just playing to the liberal base, wonder if any of them are smart enough to notice that shes playing them like a violin.
The ditzy blonde is going to regret doing this. She needs to win a "red" state to have a chance at winning the presidency. Somebody needs to inform Bill's ditzy bimbo that this isn't how you do it.
LOL! Never underestimate the stupidity of sHrILLARY
Don't Drink & Drive ("Don't Do a Kennedy" :)
The most beautiful part of this is that Kerry, never one to shy away from a TV mike, took this on from OUTSIDE the country.
The "real" Democrats -- and you know there are some (I bet Robert Byrd is FURIOUS about this) -- will NEVER forget Kerry did this -- he's DEAD now; they will simply ignore him and he'll die on the vine from lack of attention.
And she was STUPID enough to let some of her staff read DU and took the dang bait!
Friend, we couldn't have written this better ourselves.
If we've been good little boys and girls, this might turn into a "two-fer."
Let's see, Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Reid, Feinstein, Dodd,...any one else ready to put the brakes on their future ambitions???
LOL!
I LOVE THIS!
They are DIGGING! with the shovel Bush/Cheney/Rove handed them! LOL!
Wasn't he on a ski hill in Switzerland when he made the announcement? I know there was some kind of economic conference he was supposed to be at in Switzerland. What a dork.
Thank you Hillary. This is going to be a hoot. I might have to take a vacation day so I can watch this comedy show on TV.
