Earlier in the month, UK newspaper The Daily Mirror claimed Thandie Newton had screentested for a Bond girl role for the forthcoming film Casino Royale.
Several sources later confirmed that Newton had been tested opposite Daniel Craig, the new James Bond 007.
Today, rival newspaper The Sun claims she has been cast as Vesper Lynd in the movie, which is scheduled to open in theatres November 17th 2006.
According to the report, "The Sun can reveal [Thandie Newton] is the new Bond babe. She will star opposite Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, James Bonds 21st big screen venture. Thandie, 33, a mum of two, was born in Zambia 10 years after the first Bond film was made in 1962."
It continues, "Her mother is a princess but the family emigrated to Cornwall when the girl who went on to star in Mission Impossible II was just five. Thandie its pronounced Tandy is now prepared for the glare of the spotlight that goes with being part of the Bond industry."
Newton recently starred in "Crash" - which was penned by "Casino Royale" screenwriter Paul Haggis.
yawn
she used to come on ER... she had always seemed mal-nurished... under nurished?
Heck, even Grace Jones is on par wit dat.
AHHHHHHHHHH YEAH!!!!
That was because her character was running an African clinic. Method acting.
She's beautiful and elegant in an Audrey Hepburn way. But I guess some turn their noses up at that.
Sorry, but she's no Audrey Hepburn. Thandie is attractive but come on, compared to the original three in Casino Royale, Ursula Andress, Dahlia Lavi and Joanna Pettit she really doesn't come close.
Yeah but I read...probably on this site although not sure...that Tom regrets having participated in Top Gun.
no... not in an Audrey Hepburn way...
Amen.
I thought she played Carter's husband.
Can she act, or is this another EEO hire like "Jinks"?
....shoulda got Beyonce'.......
(heart going thumpity-thumpity-thump)
I wonder why Bo Derick was never asked to be a bond woman.
She could probably do it still.
These recent bond women are too fungible and irrelevant.
Sorry but this is a weak choice. She was funny looking when she was in Mission Impossible II or was it III? IV? Bring back Elle McPherson!
Pretty, but too skinny.
"Act Bond girls don't have to act do they?"
---- They used to ... re Diana Riggs, Ursula Andress, Maud Adams, Jane Seymour
