Do you recall that when the Senate was going through the impeachment kabuki dance in the late 90's, the press dubbed the proceedings as a CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS!!

But when a minority of Senate democrats try to take power from the executive branch and dictate a Supreme Court philosophical litmus test.......that's not a CRISIS, is it?

"Stevens is up now ... wonder if he'll rip the Dems again"

He has not committed to a YES or NO (publicly) yet, has he?

Just saw a Fox screen scroll that he would support a filibuster. Don't tell me he lied about his agreement with Frist ???

It wouldn't surprise me. Salazar, of course, campaigned on a pledge not to obstruct President Bush's judicial nominees. That had as much meaning as Clinton saying he didn't inhale.

Why of course it's not a crisis! Why ever should they say so? (Can you see me rolling my eyes?)

Have I missed anything? I've been busy all morning and haven't seen any of the morning debate.

Here's what Hillary has to say about being in the minority:

U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton says being in the minority in Washington, Democrats have few options when they disagree with an issue or an appointment forwarded by republicans...

The hubris of that statement is just stunning; what is she saying, that despite being in the right in every thought and deed, for this period of time, the mean old Republicans and their horrible agenda have the votes and are preventing the Democrats from doing the things the American public wants them to do?

Does she not realize that somebody is ALWAYS in the minority, it's that just now it's HER side? Simply amazing.

I have a feeling she thought it was just FINE when the GOP was in the minority (if she can remember back that far......LOL).

And if the situation was reversed, she's be telling the GOP if they want to make a difference, they should win more seats!

Does being in the minority for the foreseeable future, i.e., the rest of her life, make her say ridiculous stuff like that?

Exactly and nowhere more so than in applying for a government job, doctoring resume to include all the keywords in the ad.

It didn't start till noon eastern today. You missed Jeff Sessions opening up for us with some excellent hammering of Kerry mounting a filibuster from Davos.

And he went on to make the connection of the fallacy of following foreign law, as some of our jurists are wont to do. It was excellent.
