Clinton: Democrats May Filibuster To Block Alito Friday, January 27, 2006 07:21 AM - WBEN Newsroom

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton says being in the minority in Washington, Democrats have few options when they disagree with an issue or an appointment forwarded by republiacns, and that is the case with the nomination of Samuel Alito the U.S. Supreme Corut.

Hearings contiue to day for Alito, and a vote is likely next Tuesday, but Clinton tells WBEN's Barbara Burns her party is considering a filibuster to try to block the expected Alito confirmation.

Clinton says she is opposed to Alito's nomination, but is not sure she supports a filibuster

Re#6 But of course. Notwithstanding, her foot in mouth condition will keep on giving. The 'plantation' comment being the latest example...

The Dems are waiting for one poll... just one.

The one that says “American's split on confirmation of Alito”.

There will be hell to pay if the Dems pull that stunt on a Janice Rogers Brown after giving a pass to a couple of white guys.

Oh that's too funny. I hope that's exactly what the Bushies are strategerizing. Excellent point.

Nope...........the rats know that Ginsburg won't survive Bush's term, and they know they only have one shot at filibuster. No way they will use it now, when the next nominee may be JRB, or BETTER. This is just the usual political posturing from Mrs. BJ Clinton, IMHO.

"There are at least 35 no votes, Kerry only has to pick up 6 more."

But some of those NO votes are democrats who have stated already they they won't support a filibuster.

I don't remember their names, but I read about a few of them yesterday.

CONSIDERING! - there is an absolutely beautiful and sweet lady in our office I (the only thing I have in common with Jimmy) whom I have lust for and have considered doing many things to. I seriously doubt either Madame Cs considering nor mine will come to fruition.

"being in the minority in Washington, Democrats have few options . . ."

They might consider purging the party of its prevailing idiots and moving to a more reasonable position on most issues, thus likely gaining a few seats and a lot more legitimate power.

At some point, reasonable Democrats are going to have to take over. It's not good for the country or even for the Republican party to have a weak and often silly opposition.

Not only have they *missed their narrow window of opportunity*, they have also run out of subject changers. Changing the subject has always been their way to stay one step ahead. What are they going to change Alito to? Iran? No way. Americans are behind W. on this. Domestic spying? HAH! Americans see through this charade, too. No matter which way they try to turn, they are checked.

We can only hope that the dems will continue to show their a** on this Alito nomination.

America has seen that this man is fully qualified for this seat on the Supreme Court.

The dims just look like idiots when the oppose this nomination. Let them have at it. All they do is expose their agenda.

They don't have the votes.

55 Republicans "Yes"
3 Democrats "Yes"
2 Democrats (minimum) oppose a filibuster (Byrd WV, Dorgan ND)

= 60

Cloture invoked.

Game over.

Looks like Hillary! must be having some polling done to decide where she stands.

One BIG THING this tells me though - She is SCARED of Kerry in 08.

Mrs. Bill Clinton is a one term, junior Senator from New York, with only her prior experience as First Battleaxe alongside Emperor Billigula, and a failed healthcare plan 'initative' that ended up as a partial-policy-abortion at the very end.

She has nothing of value to say, and anything she says or does is merely a manifestation of her own insane hunger for personal political power, which will only increase as her levels of estrogen continue to dwindle.
