Teddy Kennedy Last Man On Earth Qualified To Question Ethics, Integrity Of Judicial Nominees
The American View ^ | January, 2006 | John Lofton

There may be a more disgusting, nauseating spectacle than Teddy Kennedy sitting in judgment on a Supreme Court nominee’s ethics and integrity, but I’m not sure what this might be. But, there he was on national TV, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, asking his questions and making his points with all the skills of Ace Ventura, Pet Detective. Kennedy among other things:

— Was suspended from Harvard because of cheating when he was caught getting another student to take a Spanish test for him.

— Had his father get his Army duty changed to two years from the four years he signed up for. He ended up a guard at NATO headquarters in Paris rather than in Korea where a war was going on.

A good point has been raised. How did he get out of the car, and yet there was an air pocket. If he opened the door, the water would have rushed in. If he broke a window, the water would have rushed in. Did he push the car over the bridge, with her passed out in the car? Or did he actually go over the bridge too. The former would be even more insidious! But the latter, doesn't seem to make total sense.

If Mary Jo were unconscious, she would have drowned. Probably would have been more humane if she drowned too.

But she was in essence, buried alive. The water seeped in and she lived in the air pockets for hours until the oxygen ran out.

Begin copy:

- Farrar thrust himself through the open window and into the car. Looking up, he found the body of a young woman. Her head was cocked back, her face pressed into the footwell. Both hands gripped the front edge of the back seat to hold herself in conformity with its upholstered contours. It was not the position assumed by a person knocked unconscious by the impact of a crash, Farrar said. "If she had been dead or unconscious, she would have been prone, sinking to the bottom or floating on top. She definitely was holding herself in a position to avail herself of the last remaining air that had to be trapped in the car."
- Farrar took hold of the woman's thigh, and as soon as he touched the body he knew she was dead; the flesh in his hand was hard as wood. "Instead of life-saving, I realized I was now evidence-gathering," Farrar said. "Because I was the only person who would be able to observe this situation, it behooved me to pay attention to what I saw underwater to be able to report it."

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Minima Culpa.

For pointing out my theological lapse, I am awarding you the 'Jack Kennedy-Bobby Kennedy-Martin Luther King- Pope John XXIII-Arm-in-Arm-Walking-on-a-Pink Cloud-Waving-Over-Their Shoulders-Into-Heaven' Acrylic Da-Glo Painting on Black Velvet. I am only sorry I have already awarded the one including Elvis to Shermy.

No home of any true Kennedy believer should be without it.

For your penance, say three Hail Marys, two Our Fathers, an Act of Contrition and go and sin no more. By the power vested in me by Jim Robinson, I grant you absolution, in the name of the Kennedies, and of the Pelosis and of Geraldine Ferraro. Amen.
