Haleigh Poutre moved to rehab facility
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. A new development today in the case of Haleigh Poutre (HAY'-lee POOT'-Rah), the eleven-year-old Westfield girl who was close to being removed from life support after she was allegedly beaten into a coma.Officials from the state Department of Social Services say Haleigh has been moved from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield to a rehabilitation facility at an undisclosed location in Massachusetts.
The move comes after D-S-S received a second opinion on the girl's medical condition from outside doctors. She was hospitalized in September with a seriously injured brain stem, and her doctors at the time said she would never recover from her vegetative state.
But just after D-S-S won a court order to remove Haleigh from life support, she started showing signs of improvement and had been weaned off her ventilator. Officials say she is now able to move her eyes in the direction where a sound is being made.

You know ... I think you're right.
If we keep speaking out, I think we can prevent it from reaching the scale it did in Germany. I doubt we can prevent it completely, but it's worth trying.
ProLife Ping!
If anyone wants on or off my ProLife Ping List, please notify me here or by freepmail.
Haleigh was removed from a ventilator, and started breathing on her own when the DSS & state's assured prognosis was that removing her from the ventilator was 0% survival. Was God's will thwarted when the ventilator was removed and she didn't die on her own?
I realize you are new to the forum, perhaps you lurked for awhile first, but this is a conservative forum, and many of us agree with the founder's Statement who wrote we are "Pro-God and Pro-Life" as 2 of the first on a list of many identifiers.
Many of us pray for this girl's life. If it is God's will that she dies, who would argue, so long as it is God's will and not the state's determination. That is the main argument here. This is not a Right-to-die case, which has previously evoked much of the same argument you posed here "I sure as hell hope nobody hooks me up to something so I can look back and forth in the same room until I croak". She is 11, a child, and deserves protecting.
Prove them all wrong, Haleigh! We are shielding you with prayer!
Does anyone know who her visitors are? I sure hope she is being surrounded by loving and encouraging people.
Thanks for the ping!
Apologies in advance... I am re-pinging this to the lists, if anyone should wish to send cards for Haleigh to the new facility. I found where Haleigh has been moved to from the much lengthier Boston Globe article here:
EXCERPT:
Haleigh Poutre was discharged Thursday from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and admitted to the Franciscan Hospital for Children. She has been hospitalized since September, when authorities say she was beaten into a coma.
A statement issued by the Franciscan Hospital said: "It is our hope that her stay at Franciscan will afford her the opportunity to maximize her potential for gains in her recovery."
The hospital advertises itself as the largest pediatric rehabilitation facility in New England.

Visitors have not been mentioned in any article I've read. I am even unsure if her biological mother (the sister of the adopted mom who killed herself and her own mother after Haleigh was hospitalized) has seen her or visited her, though it seems she is "considering" trying to re-apply for custody.
Message To Patient
Franciscan Hospital for Children provides a secure and confidential way for family and friends of our inpatients to send a message over the Internet using this document. Thanks for the contact info. I'm thinking of sending a spiritual bouquet for Haleigh. Does anyone know if there has been a fund set up where people can donate $$ for her care?
Ping! Thought this thread could be linked to from the Terri dailies.
I am praying for this young girl...and I mostly pray that "we" have learned from the Schaivo case..and will make sure this young girl gets every opportunity for therapy...
Right-to-die is the "comfortable" way of talking about euthanasia. It really means a forced exit, but the Pete Singers and George Soroses of the world don't want you to know that.
I don't mean to butcher Shakespeare, but this reminds me of one of his sayings (from Hamlet), "One may smile, and smile, and be a villain."
Precisely!
Good news!
Someday ... not so far away ... "all hell will break loose" and I don't plan on being here.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
[15] According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
[16] For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
[17] After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Till that happens all need to take your advice.
