I was surprised when my six month old Siamese cat cost $75.00 to put under the seat in a carrier. I paid $25.00 to the vet to drug him and he slept till the next morning. There was one lady who had her cat in her purse and she did not get charged.

Not news. Been carting a cat back and forth cross country lately. Unfortunately, after the last trip, even 3 human strength Benadryls didn't calm him. Next trip we'll use the Rx meds for a nice quiet trip. The over the shoulder Sherpa bags are very comfortable for most small creatures. There's also a rolling carrier that you can drag through the airport like any rolling suitcase. Both American and United charge $80 per trip. Usually, the flight attendants will ask you to put kitty back in the bag during the flight, but you can set the bag on the tray table if the cat is small enough and then it can see you. I've seen them be more lenient about dogs out of their bags.

I'm charging discrimination! This is my airline of choice, but my Golden Retriever will NOT fit in a pet carrier under the seat. Why should he have to ride as cargo? He rides around in my car sitting on a seat just like any other passenger! s/off

Geege, on some of the planes I've had the misfortune to fly, you'd never be able to tell...

I agree. Midwest Express IS the best plane in the air. The reason they don't fly to SF in the winter is because ALL of their available planes are on Florida routes. If you used to live in Milwaukee, you know why! LOL.

They still fly to LA all year, I think.

Cookie, cookie, cookie! :)

After being on a flight with howling child, I’ll take my howling cat any day.

And a pet is unlikely to kick the back of your seat the whole flight too!

I don't know...I see problems.

That photo was taken very shortly after I adopted her, when she weighed 26 pounds. I've had her for about four years now and have dieted her down to 17.

Heh... put my brother's cat, for example, in a carrier, and she starts spewing out of every orifice I think. At the same time. :~D

But this is rarely a problem because no one can get her *into* a carrier, no? ;-)

As someone with bad allergies, I wouldn't want to sit next to a cat or dog in such close quarters. I think this airline is risking a helluva lot of lawsuits.

Dander allergies are common enough that I'd think it'd be a problem.

You're off the hook. Midwest Airlines doesn't fly to Midway.

It solves itself ;~D

I just brought them my jumbo dog crate because she really needs to go to the vet... she can't span the doorway on that. They can get her in it. :~D

Won't help with the spewing and the schreeching though.

I fly ALOT back and forth to Florida and take my dog always. She gets so excited when she sees "the bag" and knows it's time for a trip. NEVER a peep...not once. Nobody even knows she's there. It has wheels just like a carry on bag. Not all...but MOST airlines allow pets. Some/many have restrictions on the number allowed in the cabin.

It's like car sickness where you can't open a window for fresh air ;~D
