Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito picked up his second Democratic supporter on Thursday, with Tim Johnson of South Dakota announcing he will vote for the conservative judge to become the nation's 110th justice.

Johnson joins fellow Democrat Ben Nelson of Nebraska as the only members of their party to announce Senate support for the conservative judge.

Nelson (FL) thinks he has his re-election bagged, even voting no. I wouldn't make that wager, but he has.

Timmy had the election stolen from Thune by Dashle. Thune came back and took out Daschle, on the issue of judges. Aided by conservatives across the nation, and against a Fraud machine and special late night hearing where a Judge tried to steal that election for daschle and was stopped because people were using Blacberry's to report what was happening inside against the judges knowledge.

Someone asked why they keep electing Democrats in these states. because they are a small state, dasche was the Majority leader, and he got them plenty of pork. They made a sacrifice by giving that up for Thune and wouldn't have done so except for this issue...maybe WOT.

Johnson more than anyone should appreciate that lesson. They didn't just toss for a "conservative" or a "Republican", they tossed daschle on a specific issue. This issue. If he ignores that, he presumes himself to be of more worth to the people of North Dakota then a Minority Leader that had years of pork alloted for them. Uh-uh.

Any "red" or maginal swing stater that is seen as an enemy to the placement of judges the public's WANTS, in a majority of states, will face possibility of punishment. Some are arrogant like nelson (FL) and flipped their finger. Johnson apparently is a little smarter.

(The Democrat response to the State of the Union speech will be delivered by Osama bin Laden.)

True, but only in arabic. The dems have an english speaking gov and a spanish speaking mayor giving their responses. This afternoon, announcements will be made that jean pierre kerri will give the french response, al pimpton will give the hip hop response and barney frank will give the gay response. More announcements to follow eg native American response, teacher unions, madd, now, naral etc.

"Is it just me or did everybody at DU just learn the F word?"

Nah, it is a required word or they automatically delete the post. If anyone tries to post without at least one f* word, the program filter just removes it without mention to the thread. It's not just du, link on any lefty blog and the f* word is an adjective, adverb, noun and even subject matter. They also use a load of those little smiley face characters, throwing up, banging their heads on walls, jumping up and down and trying to express themselves without use or knowledge of a vocabulary. It's similar to reading the cartoon pages.

Won't Pryor do what Bill and Hill tell him to do? As for Bayh, I am almost certain he knows he has to vote no if he wants to run for Prez or VP, and I believe he does.

I'm pleased with their choice for the Dem giving rebuttal. These rebuttals usually spell doom for the people chosen. Which, I would think, be of some concern to kaine from VA who was only just elected. :-)

I bet for Alito. Joe is not happy with the Dems and is the voice of sanity in that party. MoveOn.org and other looney left organizations are causing him trouble. I hope he gets wise and gives himself to the Darkside and becomes a Republican.

Johnson may be trying to persuade the SD GOP not to oppose him at all in 2008.

Well, I called Johnson twice and emailed him four times to encourage him to support Alito. I think many of my fellow South Dakotans did, too. Focus on the Family's PAC was working BIGTIME to get South Dakotans to barrage him with calls. They called me 2 or 3 times. Guess it worked!

"Nelson (FL) thinks he has his re-election bagged, even voting no."

We have Katherine Harris to thank for that. She insists on running even though she trails by wide margins while lesser-known conservatives poll more strongly.
