Debate continues in the Senate today on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. At present no time has been announced for a final vote. Stop by and discuss.
NO hurry turning it on. He goes on and on and on, and on, and on.
The Senate closed up shop at 8PM or so. But Frist can't -make- a Senator talk. All he can do is offer the floor, and that is all he did do.
We will lock in a debate structure in a few moments so we will be able to alternate hours back and forth between the two sides of the aisle. This will help facilitate the schedule so Members will have a better understanding of when they will have the opportunity to come to the floor to give their statements and to participate in that debate. We will remain in session all day today and into the night this week to accommodate Senators who wish to make statements. As I mentioned, every Senator will have the opportunity to speak, but it is my hope we will be able to lock in a time certain for a vote on this qualified nominee as soon as possible in order that our fellow Senators will know when that confirmation vote will occur. I would like to be able to do that shortly. I have been in discussion with the Democratic leader, and we will continue that discussion on that particular matter.
DIFI up. Abortion, abortion, abortion probably.
Leahy bloviating now...so I changed to watch President Bush...
I wonder if President Bush will come out and challenge the Palestinians ....since they obviously want a terrorist organization to run their "country"...sheesh!
Worse, I think that they see judges as those having all encompassing mystical powers.
It really drives the barbarism of the left home.
More jaw-jaw. When can Frist move for a final confirmation vote to be taken?
Are they ever going to let the other moonbats talk?
The other moonbats are meeting behind closed doors trying, in vain, to decide how to put the best face on this obvious defeat.
Time to cue the plus-size lady I think.
They're going to put a dress on fat Teddy?
So Di is pissed that GWB didn't submit a name given to him by the Dems????
Geeze. This is really pathetic.
When she apologizes for RBG, then I might consider her as a responsible adult.
There opening statment -
". Thank you for setting aside this special time for us to humiliate ourselves to the American people."
also look for pther key statments:
"I too will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about the supreme court..."
and
"Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental"
Finally
"Democrats are really easy to get along with once you people learn to stop thinking"
(Sarc off)
According to DiFi, if Alito gets on the court, nails will be driven through people's ears?????
The dems are still deciding what they're going to do. Reid hasn't committed to Frist on a time yet.
I flipped channels to watch GWB's presser and missed that but she just may have picked up Harry Reid's talking sheet by mistake.
Will be interesting to see who steps to the plate, if anyone, for the Republicans at 11:00. GWB still talking over at FOX.
I'm listening to Feinstein. She's worried that the Court could rule legislation unconstitutional. What's at stake is the radical New Deal, Great Society and 1970's social legislation. This is Kennedy's concern too on the Unitary Executive issue becuase it will wrest control from the buerocracy and turn it back to the people's representatives.
We've heard from almost every democrat that the Supreme Court protects us from excessive Executive Power, but when the Court dares to pare back excessive Legislative Power, well that just can't be allowed.
Very nice summary of what is going on.
I think Di looks like Camilla with brunette (cough, cough) hair.
LOL! Whatever is in her coffee, it better be from a legitimate prescription. LOL!
Which in Dennis Kuchinich's (sp) case may not be an altogether bad thing if it results in them being closer to his head...
