Good morning once again, all you fellow political junkies. Put on a fresh pot of coffee, put the sticky buns in the oven, put a fresh battery in the remote control, and join us for the latest episode of the world's greatest daytime soap opera, "As the Democrats Bloviate." Yup, once again, it's that time...
At the moment, what's the vote count?
Ann must be pleased, her next column just wrote itself...
Maybe he thinks Bush will put him on the SCOTUS when Stevens or Ginsburg leaves.
Maybe they could go to Cuba. Canada is out now because it seems the adults have started to push their weight around.
They get a lot of mail. Calling is helpful. It's harder for them to evade a phone call. The other thing is that if you are way too mad, they will see it as hopeless and continue on their merry or not so merry way.
If you really want to bring him around, find a way to say that you really want to support Santorum but you are very upset about his commitment to overspending and it's at the point where you are at the brink of making a decision whether or not you can support him in the upcoming election.
If you smack him (it may feel good in the short term), it is less likely to get you what you want in the long term, which is for him to vote for more responsible and smaller government.
I really think that this will help more than you know.
We will keep notes....see ya later!
47-21 although they really are not voting yet.
Scarborough has moved into show business. Besides, he already said he isn't going to run. btw - Katherine Harris is my U.S. Rep.
:p I loved that play until just now.
Correct that Nelson is the only crossover. But the Senate can avoid a cloture vote by unanimous consent - they did with Roberts, and do with most nominations, even the hotly contested ones. IIRC, Thomas' confirmation vote of 52-to-48 came without a preceding cloture vote.
Kind of like Bingaman. We never vote 'em out.
I usually read the Daily Kos .. they aren't as funny to read as the DU .. but every once in a while a Dem party leader will post there
I hope people are listening to Senator Hatch. This is one of the best speeches I have ever heard from him on lots of angles. The judiciary is serious stuff and the left is totally debasing the process. Orrin is doing all he can to reveal what is going on and to drag them back from the edge.
Whew! I feel violated just having to read past your post.
I am afraid that Scarborough wouldn't be able to answer for some of the dumb things I have heard him say on his TV show...LOL
You're obviously free to vote with your emotions all you want ... but elections offer comparative choices and it always involves voting for the lesser of evils. That's because no candidate will mirror one's political views exactly ... so some sort of comparative analysis always has to be made.
Do you think this comes as some big surprise to us? Your very first post on this forum was trashing Santorum and you haven't stopped since.
Everybody's been on to you for a LONG time.
"Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) plans to stun the world when she announces how she is going to vote on Alito during a speech in Los Angeles"
I don't see her name on your list.
If the name is not on the list, it means the Senator has made an on-the record comment to C-SPAN's satisfaction, that the Senator has already committed to a position. So, C-SPAN has Boxer in the "No" column.
The C-SPAN2 list has all the names. I found it easier, personally, to limit my view to the list of "uncommitted."
He did? Wow. Hard to see even a leap of Kerrylogic getting to that one.
You failed to mention Alito's worst crime. He's going to roll up his sleeves and help the administration strip loyal Americans of all their rights in favor of the Executive branch. Just see the NSA for an example of how Bush is destroying the right to privacy for Americans
(barf, barf, gag). Get ready, this is going to be repeated and echoed ad infinitum for the next few weeks at least.
