In a December 23 USA Today front page story, USO cheers troops, but Iraq gigs tough to book; Safety concerns, disagreement with war keeping many celebrities from volunteering, reporters Martin Kasindorf and Steven Komarow related how actor/comedian Robin Williams, who like [Al] Franken has been an outspoken critic of Bush's management of the war -- and [Wayne] Newton, a Republican who backs Bush, say some stars have turned down the USO because they thought such performances would amount to endorsing the war. But in a Friday evening Nightline story, Terry Moran, through his use of soundbites from two left-wingers, portrayed cowardly conservatives, including Rush Limbaugh who isn't a stage performer, as the problem facing the USO in trying to get stars to go to Iraq and Afghanistan...

Read the rest. It's sickening.

Rush trashed this yesterday. They didn't bother to do any research or they would have known Rush went to Afghanistan.

Uh, hate to tell Nightline this, but most 'performers' are liberals. If you are having a problem booking them, then it's mostly a problem with liberals.

Rush ought to sue them for defamation.
He can prove the truth was available and online for a year.
They didn't find it deliberately .The purpose was to defame, not to publish the truth.

Pretty poor reporting in a venue that presents facts to dozens of people nightly.

Went to a Toby Keith concert last year, and he described to the audience what it takes for performers to go and entertain the troops (he went to Afghanistan). For security reasons, only two performers at a time could go to the troops toting nothing but guitars. According to the photos that were shown on the Jumbo-Tron, it looked as if he entertained soldiers at an FOB, but I could be wrong.
Interesting that Nightline didn't mention Toby and his numerous performances in Afghanistan. Probably because he had an on-air verbal jousting session with their icon, Peter Jennings.
