Would that qualify as the most disgraceful thing a president has ever done?

"true believer"
You got it. Like Al Gore, Carter truly believed in liberalism. Clinton knew it was all a pack of lies, but used it to further his career. Unlike Carter, Clinton actually knew what worked and what didn't (for the most part...he was really ignorant on foreign policy), but was the ultimate opportunist.

A friend on my family was a Secret Service agent assigned to the White House (since retired) I asked him once who was the worst President he had to serve under and without a beat he said Carter.
The smile was fake.
BTW he was not an agent when Clinton was President.

I bet a few posts will say Carter is the worst president ever. But that dishonor should go to Clinton. I have to disagree. Clinton was a hustler and in it for himself. But he was not malicious.
Jimmy Carter is a sanctimonious little prick who intentionally hurt the country just to demonstrate his moral superiority.

"Carter was a 'true believer', with an insipid 70's smiley face. He's got Clinton beat in the malicious department. I'll bet some of his little adventures in places like Venezuela stem from anger at being pitched out of office."
Your description of Carter reminds me of what MacCain has done since he was rejected in 2000. Wonder if MacCain has the same power of seduction that Carter/Clinton have?

I bet a few posts will say Carter is the worst president ever. But that dishonor should go to Clinton. As much as we dislike Clinton, he was a medicore President because he pandered to polls and did not follow his conscience. Clinton had a solid economy, which was helped by a Republican Congress who kept Clinton in check. Carter was a total disaster on all fronts and had a Democratic congress to help feul the disaster along.

Clinton is Reaganeque compared with jimmuh. the war we are about to enjoin with iran is all thanks to jimmuh, not clinton. hugo chavez is in power in no small measure thanks to jimmuh's figleaf endorsement of a hugely fraudulent election. clinton was at least smart or lucky enough to not screw the economy up. you must not have lived through the carter "misery index", or seen the BOSTON GLOBE's disdain for the idiot traitor from plains, whose meaningless pontifications they described as "...more mush from the wimp..."

No, it should go to Carter simply because he was such an inept politician. Clinton at least had some political savvy (at least when his pants were zipped up)So you think a first class arsonist is better person than a second class arsonist because he is more skilled in preforming his crimes?

I bet a few posts will say Carter is the worst president ever. But that dishonor should go to Clinton. Nope, it goes to Jackson.
Carter is about sixth on the list and yes, Clinton is below him, at least for now. Carter is directly responsible for the mess in Iran.

Sounds like a good read.
Lived through Little Jimmy Carter's presidency and can say with a smile he is the reason I am not longer a Democrat.

Jimmy Carter is nothing but a spineless, impotent, embarrassingly-ineffectual, gutless, socialist, moronic fool who should never have held any Gov't position higher than a paper-clip sorter for Barney Fife. Excellent observation.

Clinton's control of inflation is fictional. Inflation is created by the federal reserve and Clinton's only contribution was in keeping Alan Greenspan in charge. Easy to do since by then Greenspan already had many years on the job showing he knew what he was doing. The other source of his prosperity was from the Reagan tax cuts and the Internet boom. He raised taxes and burst the bubble with the Microsoft antitrust lawsuit. His biggest achievement was in getting congress turned Republican. Clinton was incompetent and corrupt.
