Dear XXXXXX:
Thank you for writing to urge me to vote and support Judge Alito in his nomination to the Supreme Court and that Alito receive a fair and speedy hearing. I am sorry for the delay in my response. I value your input which is why I take the time to read each letter I receive from my constituents.
I have carefully studied Judge Alito's experience as a lawyer, judge, and his understanding of constitutional law. After a thorough review and participating in an extensive five-day hearing, I have decided to vote in support of his nomination both in the Judiciary Committee and during the vote by the whole Senate. I believe my consent to his nomination is one of the most influential decisions I have had to make this term.
I believe Judge Alito respects the role of Congress defined by the U.S. Constitution in Article I, which vests "all legislative Powers" in the Congress. Judges are to uphold the Constitution and interpret our laws. Judge Alito has clearly demonstrated he will not impose his own desires and that he comes to each case with an open mind and will faithfully apply the Constitution, our laws, and our treaties.
Judge Alito is a nominee of good character who respects the Constitution, is intelligent, unbiased and committed to equal justice under the law; as such, I am glad to support his nomination.
As I promised during my campaign for Senate, I will work to make sure that all nominees approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee receive an up or down vote.
Thank you for writing me. If I can be of assistance in the future please do not hesitate to write.
Sincerely,
Tom Coburn
United States Senator
Coburn would be a GREAT President!
Based on what I know of Senator Coburn (all good so far), I'd vote for him.
This is what won me over:

Wanted to share this with all of you. When all of you go vote in your primaries, remember to cast your votes for someone like Dr. Coburn for Senate so we can get more "real" conservatives in the Senate.
So would I.
He's made me proud to have voted for him on several occasions.
Doctor Coburn one of the few good ones.
Heck, I'm ready to cast my vote for him for POTUS!
I'm in Michigan, I don't even know what a moderate Senator looks like from either side of the aisle. :)
That man is a class act through and through!
Thanks for posting, PKM. I think I would vote for Tom Coburn for any office he wants to run for. With Dr. Coburn, what you see is what you get, and a politician like that is rare.
Written from deep in the piney woods of Georgia, longing for the Oklahoma plains where you can see a day or two ahead.
I would vote for him in a heartbeat for President. Dr. Coburn has fulfilled his campaign promises which is rare IMHO.
Any chance he'll be moving to Ohio soon?
The two we have need to be replaced.
Just wondering...................
Dr. Coburn is a breath of fresh air. He has my support and my vote for whatever office he run.
Wish you were back here to help defeat Gov DoLittle come November!
This was my first chance to vote for him when he ran for Senate as I live in the 4th District. Voting for Dr. Coburn was one of the best votes I have ever cast. I talked to him at the OU Homecoming game before the election when we were giving away free hamburgers, drinks, and potato chips for his campaign He is so down to earth and so humble in his remarks about how his campaign was doing -- he took nothing forgranted -- still have my Sooners for Coburn shirt which also has Sooners for Bush on the other side which the Coburn Campaign gave away. Never enjoyed working for a State campaign more then I did his campaign.
I would work 24/7 for him again -- wouldn't even hesitate.
I icluded this in my email to Bill Nelson- (red state) FL
We could use a lot more Senators like Dr. Tom and the Senate would be a much better place.
