Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.) contends that only vigorous opposition has led Bush to refrain from selecting even more conservative judicial nominees.Alito is an example, Schumer said. Legal observers think Alito is not as conservative as some candidates Bush was considering.
THE WORDS OF A CLUELESS MORON.

I hope the vote ends up being 56-44 or something.
Why? Because it'll be within filibuster range, and then the left wing zealots over at DU and MoveOn.org will flip out, demanding their party move more to the left, and the Democrats will have no choice but to comply. This country won't vote for a leftist party, but the Democrats will move left anyway as a result.

He's trying to salvage some cred with the base.

Schumer and his other Dim buddies are like third graders on the playground. It is funny to see them throw hissy fits when the are beating by the better team.

Yes.
Their insanity is very entertaining.
I like how President Bush will have had two conservative white men confirmed to the Supreme Court leaving the Democrats to filibuster a conservative Hispanic or Black appointee to fill a potential third opening.
Bush has obliterated these libs.

Bush will have two justices confirmed who happen to be white men.
Having avoided a filibuster on both these conservatives, Bush will be able to cripple the Democrats by lining up a conservative black or Hispanic to fill a third opening.
The libs are not going to win control of the Senate in 2006. I predict the will lose a net one or two seats.
These libs are losers. If it weren't for the biased MSM, they would be nonexistent.

WHOO HOO! The fire works show would be spectacular. And Bush's inevitable win would blow the top off Insanity Mountain on the Left.

NO Harriet Miers.
I want a judge who understands Constitutional law.
Harriet Miers was the Titanic that did not sail.

You bet it will be a campaign issue in the 31 red states Bush won.
That's 62 potential Senate seats if we truly polarize.

Alito is an example, Schumer said. Legal observers think Alito is not as conservative as some candidates Bush was considering. So, then, Schumer is voting for Alito?

Nah - the public is behind Alito and sees these ploys as petty politics. There's nothing to expose Alito as anything but a judge's judge: and for 15 yrs. on the bench, that's actually kinda hard to do. There is NO grassroots effort to stop this confirmation -- unless you count three dozen Rat Senators as a big movement.
