Edward F. Cox, a Manhattan lawyer who dropped out of the Senate race against Hillary Rodham Clinton last fall, broke his silence about the 2006 campaign and yesterday signaled for the first time that he would consider re-entering the race. But Mr. Cox, a Republican who is a son-in-law of President Richard M. Nixon, said that his remarks, which were reported yesterday by The Associated Press, were made casually. He said no notes were taken, and that he considered the conversation to be off the record. The A.P. reporter declined to comment. Mr. Cox was quoted as saying that he would run if given the go-ahead by Gov. George E. Pataki. "I want to run - it's up to the governor now," Mr. Cox said. But in an interview after the wire service's article Mr. Cox said, "It's a lot more complicated than just the governor's endorsement." He declined to comment further.

Some "maybe" good news.
I think no one wants to run against the Plantation Queen.
This isn't good news. No Republican will beat Hillary! this time round. She's simply too popular in the nanny state of New York. But there's absolutely no need for a Republican primary - let the Republican challenger focus on Hillary! for the next 11 months, instead of another Republican.
The fact is that the RINO establishment doesn't like the current frontrunner, former Yonkers mayor John Spencer. He's conservative and a bit of a maverick who has bucked the party estabishment in the past - especially those in Albany, when he thought Yonkers didn't get its fair share of aid from the state.
We can be certain that Spencer will take up the good fight to Hillary!. I'm not so sure you could say the same thing about "moderates" like Pirro or Cox.
Yeah, I agree with Conservative in NYC, Cox needs to stay out. This is Spencer's baby.
I'm gearing up my checkbook for Spencer.
Cox is a rino jerk that has zero chance of getting back into this race. He spent ONE MILLION DOLLARS , ONE MILLION DOLLARS of his own money and raised about 50k from others. NOBODY GAVE HIM ANYTHING> His one million dollars got him shiite. Pataki is an ash hole who can't stop Spencer.
John Spencer IS the warrior we have been waiting for.
There is a small but not insignificant segment of the ratmedia that hates the beast. There will be no free ride, no questions asked press conferences this time.
The NY Times wants a RINO who will give a free ride to Hillary (as Pirro probably would have.)
..."In sHrILLARYS' "Silent Plantation" Senate (Stupid NY Voters) Tour, while galloping to the 'RAT Presidential Nomination" RUN....that one?...
The RINO Establishment of New York is more interested in their own petty turf wars than in winning elections.
Clearly, no one will slay the Hildabeast this year. But at least John Spencer will bring about a serious discussion of the issues and give New York's outnumbered conservatives a reason to vote.
If Ed Cox is the nominee, he'll spend most of his campaign apoligizing for the Watergate scandal.
I'm still confused...but then I stay that way when it comes to New York.
Why are New Yorkers going to vote Miz Clinton in again when she's going to run for president? Will the governor appoint another senator to replace her? Because of course, WHEN she runs, she will gracefully resign the senate. Just like what's his face Kerry.
Pigs fly and squirrels are everywhere in New York. Wouldn't live there for all the gold in...
