HERZLIYA, Israel, Jan. 21 (UPI) --
Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz warned the Iranian people Saturday that they faced "destruction" unless they managed to restrain their new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
"Look at the fate of others who sought the destruction of the Jewish people. They only brought havoc and destruction to the own people," Mofaz said.
"I know that a large part of the people of Iran do not support his policies but his despicable acts could bring destruction to all of you. You understand what must be done to prevent this," Mofaz added, directly addressing the Iranian people.
It was the toughest statement of Israel's determination to block Iran's nuclear ambitions since the stroke that felled Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon two weeks ago, and it came just two days before the next scheduled international inspection of Iran's nuclear research facilities.

This Iranian nut has to be spouting for a reason.
My guess is Iran has already gone nuclear. Now they're trying to expand their nuke manufacturing capability. The tipper for me was the recent statements of 'she who will not be named'.

All this is hypothetical to the Eurotrash, the obtuse antisemitic stooges in the State Department, and the leftwing dolts in Congress, but it is very real to Israel. The people of Iran must choose between life and death.
...and so do the people of Israel.

Israel's nuclear arsenal is the worst-kept secret in history. If the Iranians are crazy enough to attack Israel it will be Iran that gets wiped off the map.

This is probably the best post I have ever seen on FRep.
Both corrective (in your own thoughts and ideas) and compassionate- understanding- factual- and hopeful

If they don't heed these words I'm thinking their inaction in light of this warning will help diffuse any Israeli guilt after thousands of them are vaporized in fire balls.
I really hope they take it to heart. They have no one to blame but themselves. Rattlin' sabre's with nucs is big dog hi buck stuff.....

The nice thing is that many here see the same thing. I just happened to put it into sentence first....but thanks all the same for your kind words.

It doesn't get any more serious than this.

The most troubling thing is that if Israel were to launch a preemptive nuclear strike against Iran, they may be forced to use it on other nations as well.
To: DainBramage
The Israelis need to make sure the Iranian people know what's going on. In most dictatorships (like Iran) the people are in the dark. Once they are fairly aware and have some time to change things but don't....fire up the grill.

If true, it's a very series threat. But me thinks it's a bluff.

They don't need an excuse, no provocation required. The ones who are going to get nuked here, are the Iranians.

I agree with your assessment, but I will take it a step further.
The Arabs/Muslims had better hope Israel strikes first, as if Israel were decimated by a WMD strike, they may just decide to retaliate against ALL her enemies - Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc. with nukes on Israeli subs & in hardened silos.
Israel should inform these countries that if any of them attack Israel with WMD, then Israel will assume an attack from all of them, and respond in kind on each & every one of them. Perhaps then some REAL pressure will be applied to Iran & their ilk.
JFK did basically the same thing during the Cuban missile crisis, telling the USSR that ANY nuclear attack from ANY country on the US or its neighbors would be deemed by the US as an attack by the USSR, with full retaliation.
If Israel would announce this as policy, then perhaps the western oil consuming nations would realize that an irradiated Middle East WONT be producing ANY oil for many years to come, & will DO SOMETHING short of nuclear war to prevent this outcome.
And surely this stated policy would scare the hell out of Iran's & Israel's neighbors, prompting them to exert pressure on Iran.
Policy or not, a nuclear exchange between Iran & Israel will probably spread nuclear fallout from Gaza to China, killing & sickening millions & rendering vast areas uninhabitable for years. Persian Gulf oil production will just be a memory.

I would like to think you're right. But I can't.
I have lived and worked among these people in the past. They don't want peace with Israel. They want Israel's elimination, and if Israel strikes Iran, even in retaliation, I feel that the entire Middle East will erupt.
I hope and pray that I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.
Keep in mind that the sons of Lot and the Sons of Abraham have been at odds with each other for close to 3000 years. Nothing will ever change that.
