HERZLIYA, Israel, Jan. 21 (UPI) --
Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz warned the Iranian people Saturday that they faced "destruction" unless they managed to restrain their new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
"Look at the fate of others who sought the destruction of the Jewish people. They only brought havoc and destruction to the own people," Mofaz said.
"I know that a large part of the people of Iran do not support his policies but his despicable acts could bring destruction to all of you. You understand what must be done to prevent this," Mofaz added, directly addressing the Iranian people.
It was the toughest statement of Israel's determination to block Iran's nuclear ambitions since the stroke that felled Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon two weeks ago, and it came just two days before the next scheduled international inspection of Iran's nuclear research facilities.

Osama and 9/11 came a decade too early, Hitler blew his wad in Russia and now Ahmadinejad will get his arse kicked when he could of had the bomb uncontested.
Whatever Israel plans to do, it needs to do it while W is still in the saddle.
Whatever USA plans to do, it needs to do before it changes its mind upon W's leaving office.
He can threaten the United States all he wants to. He can sail a ship near New York, and detonate a nuclear device is they have or get one. Although it would be horrific, America would survive.
When one looks at Israel, how many would it take to destroy them? Two?
Israel is not going to play around with this man. Their situation would be much too precarious in such a scenario, and they will strike first.
Iran, you have been warned, proceed at your own risk.
HA! the crazy Iranian nuclover thought he could make his move while Sharon was in a come..
He may very well have awoken a TRUE TIGER!
What an utterly lame basis for a national defense; the Iranians believe exactly the same thing out of their book.
Fortunately, Israel has a well-trained military, motivation and lots of great weapons - they don't have to rely on just the oooga-booga.
"Iran's missiles are mobile and move at night."
Night is no longer dark to modern technology.
tic,tic, tic. It will happen
They are the only group of people in the history of the world that have been singled out by God as His chosen people...I'd say that makes them pretty special...
A good Christian is one who recognizes Christ as Lord and Savior and trusts Him completey. ALL of us stumble a lot, but He always picks us up. Hang in there!
I doubt they'll be relying on evolution either.
the "ooga-booga" is the only thing that counts. If Israel would truly rely on it for their national defense, the world would see some amazing things. Unfortunately, they rely on the Sampson option rather than their Protector.
They will not loose the coming conflict, but they will have needles suffering for trying to defend themselves in their own strength, not in God's strength.
Sorry, I just don't like to see my religion called "ooga-booga"
All this is hypothetical to the Eurotrash, the obtuse antisemitic stooges in the State Department, and the leftwing dolts in Congress, but it is very real to Israel.
They have a deranged despot at the head of a foreign nation threatening to wipe them out, and working feverishly to get the means to do it. No reason to doubt Israel will act as they see fit to preserve their survival. And woe to the cowards who would seek to deny them the right of self defense.
The people of Iran must choose between life and death.
BTTT!
We will see some amazing things.
Unfortunately, they rely on the Sampson option rather than their Protector.
Israel defending itself against annihilation is not an expression of not relying on God; I would suggest that God is the one who will determine if they are successful or not.
Sorry, I just don't like to see my religion called "ooga-booga"
I wouldn't sweat that one....it's coming from somebody who worships some 'Monkey-God'.
